Position Overview
The Director, Employee Success Operations is responsible for leading human resources operations at Illustrative Mathematics, including compensation, benefits, federal and multi-state compliance, operations, and general employee support. This role manages a small Employee Success Operations function and works closely with the VP, Employee Success to build and maintain inclusive, equitable, and effective people systems. 

Directors at IM are responsible for leading entire departments and aligning them with IM’s strategic goals. This level focuses on long-term planning, budgetary oversight, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, create, coordinate, and execute strategic compensation policies, processes, practices, advice, and consultation aligned with IM’s mission, compensation philosophy, and talent strategy.
  • Develop and lead IM’s total reward strategy in alignment with talent goals and organizational values.
  • Lead as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions and interpreting policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Provide the strategic vision and direction for employee success operations that is aligned with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to maintain a healthy organizational climate and resolve conflicts when needed.
  • Ensure team compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
 
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
  • At least 5 years of experience in Compensation, Benefits, or Human Resources.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role managing individuals or teams.  
  • Prior experience implementing total reward strategies in a fast paced, high growth organization.
  • Prior experience managing multi-state state and federal compliance and related organizational policies and procedures.
  • Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR,  CCP, CBP, CEBS certification.
  • Strong computer skills with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace applications, Asana, Notion, Zoom, and Slack.
