Job Description

Overview
The Director of Learning & Development is responsible for designing and executing Oticon’s L&D strategy to strengthen internal team product and sales competencies in addition to all external customer training programs. This role leads the development, management, and performance of training programs, leadership development initiatives, onboarding processes, and learning management systems.

Responsibilities

L&D Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Assess current and future learning needs across the business; translate insights into program priorities and roadmaps.
  • Lead and mentor the L&D team, external partners, and subject-matter experts.
  • Build a culture of learning, coaching, and skill development across all levels.
  • Ensure collaboration and cooperation with all internal business functions both local and global.
 
Program Design & Delivery
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of internal/external training programs.
  • Create scalable learning pathways for employees at different stages of their careers.
  • Implement blended learning solutions (in-person, virtual, on-demand, and self-directed).
  • Ensure learning experiences are engaging, modern, and grounded in adult learning principles.

Onboarding & Talent Development
  • Own the strategy and delivery of onboarding programs to accelerate new hire ramp-up and performance.
 
Learning Operations & Technology
  • Oversee the internal Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure program delivery and adoption
  • Evaluate and select external training vendors, platforms, and partners.
  • Ensure data-driven decision-making through tracking, reporting, and analysis of learning effectiveness and ROI.

Organizational Development
  • Support change management initiatives through targeted training and communication strategies.
  • Facilitate team development, organizational assessments, and culture-building activities.
  • Partner with leaders to align learning programs with broader talent and organizational development goals.

Measurement & Impact
  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning initiatives.
  • Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on program performance, adoption, and business impact.
 
May perform miscellaneous tasks/projects as directed by manager.
This position requires at least 30% travel, frequently to the Somerset, NJ headquarters as well as other locations to attend mandatory in-person meetings and events.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Learning & Development, Speech & Audiology, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Education, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in learning, talent development, or organizational development, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business leaders.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business strategy and capability needs into learning solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within complex, fast-paced environments.
