The Director of Learning Data & AI Insights will lead the data, analytics, and AI-first strategies that underpin the transformation of Relias’ content development operations from static delivery toward dynamic, personalized learning experiences. This role will define the infrastructure, taxonomies, and processes that power adaptive learning systems and serve as a strategic delivery bridge across Product, Engineering, and Data.
 
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: 
  • Operationalize real-time learner modeling: Standardize and analyze data across assessments, skills frameworks, and learner tools to build dynamic learner profiles. Define and instrument behavioral data to capture implicit learning signals beyond completion metrics.
  • Map content to competencies and outcomes: Lead creation of an adaptive content graph linking assessments, skills, and objectives to tagged metadata and taxonomies. Partner with instructional design teams to enable outcome-driven personalization rules and models.
  • Enable adaptive recommendation engines: Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to design and tune AI-powered personalization models. Deploy services that deliver real-time learning recommendations within platforms and monitor impact on learner outcomes.
  • Support explainability and efficacy in AI recommendations: Build dashboards for instructional and clinical review of AI-driven recommendations. Establish QA and fairness audit processes to ensure recommendations are aligned with learning goals and equitable across learner groups.
  • Drive process excellence and cross-functional execution: Lead a specialized Content Process Management team to redesign workflows for AI-assisted creation. Serve as primary bridge with Engineering and Quickbase admins to align infrastructure and metadata standards with AI needs.
  • Advanced analytics & insight generation: Conduct complex data analysis to surface learning-effectiveness insights, content gaps, and performance trends. Automate reporting and provide actionable recommendations to improve personalization maturity.
 
YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE/ARE: 
  • 8+ years in educational technology data strategy with an emphasis in systemized personalized learning analytics.
  • 3+ years collaborating with AI/ML product teams on personalization or adaptive learning.
  • Proven track record in translating learning goals into data and product requirements.
  • Strong communicator able to translate between Content Development, Platform Development, Engineering and Data & GenAI teams.
  • Deep knowledge of learning data models (xAPI, cmi5, SCORM) and metadata design.
  • Familiarity with AI capabilities in education (LLMs, recommenders, adaptive engines).
  • Competence in analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and defining KPIs.
  • Skilled at designing taxonomies, instrumentation strategies, and QA review processes.
  • Ability to lead cultural adoption of AI-first approaches across diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU ALSO HAD:
  • 10+ years in leadership roles.
  • Advanced degree or similar worked experience in Learning Sciences, Data Strategy, or related field.
  • Experience leading change management for AI adoption in content workflows.
  • Direct management experience with process/infrastructure steward or analytics teams.
 
IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT:
Relias values collaboration and wants to ensure that our team members have opportuniites to work with their managers regularly for professional development opportunities.  This role requires that you live in the state of North Carolina, within a commutable distance to our office.  You would be expected to work in our Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 40 days/quarter.
