About the position: The Director of Athletic Advancement’s responsibilities include facilitating and securing major gift support for Athletic priority projects and endowments, as well as securing general annual support from assigned portfolio of major gift prospects. Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics with a dotted line link to the Vice President for Advancement, other responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, and soliciting high asset prospects for philanthropic support of Athletics; providing oversight of Athletic Alumni events to cultivate donors; working with other development staff, Coaches, University administrators, faculty, key volunteers, and other staff in securing major gifts; working within budget regarding annual expenditures on assigned projects.

Duties and Responsibilities Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and capital gift donors and sponsorship prospects from multiple constituencies with emphasis on athletic department priorities. Collaborate with Advancement and Athletic Department personnel (including oversight of a Graduate Assistant/Student workers/volunteers) to coordinate fundraising and alumni engagement events. Develop and implement annual and long-term plans to cultivate and solicit major philanthropic support for Athletic Department priority projects and for general support from prospects. Attend face-to-face donor visits and contacts, out of the office, as well as filing call/touch reports and other gift related records. Identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate sponsorships and execute fulfillments on campus for athletics. Ensure appropriate stewardship of gifts. Connect supporters with university faculty and students. Manage assigned pool of major gift prospects with portfolio of 150-200 consisting of annual donors, major gift prospects and corporate sponsors. Coordinate athletic communication plans related to giving and alumni engagement for coaches and general athletics. Coordinate all athletics annual fund letters and Black & Gold Club fulfillments. Qualify suspects as prospects and evaluate capacity and interest. Contact past donors periodically to steward well to position for next ask. Identify new prospects with capacity to make a major gift to the Athletics Department. Assist with athletic advancement initiatives and events. Collaborate with coaches and university staff and oversee athletic department development events including alumni games, golf outings, hospitality areas, homecoming, hall of fame, wall of honor. Serve as liaison between Athletic Department and prospects. Provide stewardship to prospect pool. Maintain current knowledge of fundraising policies, gift vehicles, giving trends and University policies and procedures. Prepare reports evaluating fundraising activities. Manage and Oversee Day of Giving for athletics department Assist with game day management as needed by athletics department.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree and three years’ experience in development or fundraising
OR equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Demonstrated ability to: organize resources. manage relationships. assess and utilize demographic and/or financial data. design and prepare statistical and outcome reports. establish priorities. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Valid driver’s license. Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations. Successful interview. Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications | Five years of direct major gift fundraising experience in higher education with a preference for those with experience in Athletics fundraising. Digital Communication Skills. Knowledge of fundraising databases. Razor’s Edge. Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
