Position Summary | The Director of IT Infrastructure leads the planning, implementation, and management of the college’s core technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all foundational IT systems that support the college’s academic, administrative, and operational needs. The director fosters a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery within the IT infrastructure team.
Description of Key Responsibilities | Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the college’s LAN, cloud service integrations, VOIP telephony system, and Wi-Fi infrastructure. Ensure the availability, reliability, security, and scalability of IT infrastructure, including disaster recovery, asset management, and network security. Develop and execute long-term IT infrastructure strategies and manage the infrastructure budget. Lead and coordinate IT infrastructure projects and support strategic initiatives across departments. Plan, organize, and direct activities and operations involved in technology installation and maintenance in all College buildings and facilities. Provide project management for technology deployments or implementations, assuring maximum availability and reliability of the College’s network and technical resources. Direct virtual infrastructure and cloud service integrations. Assist in the development and execution of the vision, mission, and strategy for campus-wide IT infrastructure operations. Build and maintain relationships and working groups with other IT and non-IT stakeholders campus-wide to understand their needs and deliver IT infrastructure services to meet those needs. Collaborate with the CIO and IT directors to support IT governance processes and committees. Recruit, mentor, supervise, and lead a team of IT infrastructure professionals. Collaborate with the information security team to implement security measures and ensure compliance. Maintain, audit, and continuously improve security management for the College’s computer systems and networks, including software, hardware, and telecommunications. Oversee and manage the relationship with the organization’s CISO provider, ensuring alignment with strategic cybersecurity objectives, service level agreements, and regulatory compliance requirements. Manage relationships with technology vendors and ensure service level agreements are met. Oversee resolution of infrastructure-related incidents and minimize operational downtime. Ensure and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure systems, configurations, and processes. Perform other job-related duties as assigned and as technology evolves.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Distinguishing Characteristics | To act as the College’s positive and proactive technology change agent in order to improve all aspects of the business of the College, including teaching, learning, administrative services and communications. In alignment with College objectives, this position will deliver technical services to the organization in an expedited, high quality and cost effective manner; as well as provide creative technical solutions to operational problems, working cross-functionally to identify, understand, and meet challenges from a technical perspective.
As this position includes a high degree of interaction with faculty, staff and students, the position requires a detail-oriented and results-driven individual who works well within team environments and has excellent communication skills, as well as good client interaction skills.
This position is privy to a great deal of personal and confidential information; exercise of a high degree of discretion is essential. It will require the application of several types of skills, including use of technology as well as interpersonal skills involved in maintaining positive long-term relationships.
Education/Training | Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience | 10+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, preferably in higher education. 5+ years of management experience in IT infrastructure. Experience with complex networks, data center operations, virtualization, storage, and cloud integration.
Licenses or Certifications | Security certifications from (ISC)2 and/or CompTia are preferred. PMP, Microsoft Administrator and/Engineer, and CISCO certifications are preferred.
