Job Summary  | The Director of Recruitment, Undergraduate Admissions, is an integral leader within Enrollment Management at University of Portland with responsibilities related to directing, developing, and managing undergraduate student recruitment functions for all first-year recruitment. The Director will serve as the key liaison with internal and external partners while providing supervision of Academic Counselor staff through strategic leadership. This position is accountable for successful execution of Undergraduate Admissions strategies and will oversee strategic territory management, counselor travel, implementation of on-campus recruitment events and participation of off-campus events, and oversee Student Employment. The Director of Recruitment will be assigned a recruitment territory and will report to the Dean of Admissions.
Core Duties  | Develop, implement, and oversee recruitment territory assignment and annual recruitment plans for Undergraduate Admissions working in alignment with Enrollment Management leadership to meet strategic initiatives. Plan annual strategies for participation in undergraduate recruitment fairs, high school visits, receptions, and oversee on-campus recruitment events and programs, working in collaboration with Associate Directors. Measure accountability and impact of recruitment strategies and tactics, providing feedback and recommendations for process improvements. Manage and evaluate internal and external events to enhance undergraduate recruitment and overall annual yield, attending events as needed. Direct and oversee daily needs for Admissions file reading and acceptance decisions. Serve as liaison and partner to university departments, including but not limited to, Residence Life, Student Activities, ROTC, University Events, etc. Lead and supervise all Associate Directors, Admission Counselors, front office staff and Student Employees. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring processes, setting of expectations, training and professional development, performance management and evaluations, and disciplinary processes including up to termination of employment. Review and provide feedback on marketing initiatives such as engagement campaigns, mailings and digital campaigns as requested by Enrollment Management leadership. In partnership with Dean of Admissions, review and engage with search strategies, campaign performance, external partnership productivity and deliverables. Responsible for assigned recruitment territory which includes travel for high school visits, college fairs, receptions, and interviews. Read, evaluate, and make first level recommendations about undergraduate applications. Maintain effective communications with the departments of Financial Aid, Registrar, and Academic Offices to facilitate efforts in the application process.

Education & Experience  | Required: Bachelor’s degree. Required: Five to seven years or more of advanced professional college admission experiences inclusive of managing professional staff. Required: Demonstrated experience working within in a CRM, preferably SLATE. Preferred: Master’s degree in higher education, business, or related field. Preferred: Advanced knowledge in student search and recruitment best practices in a West Coast territory. Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
