Job Description
The Director of School Operations is a critical leader within KIPP Nashville Public Schools, responsible for ensuring operational excellence across our campuses. This role provides direct guidance, coaching, and mentorship to campus-based operations leaders, building their capacity to deliver strong systems that support student achievement.
Beyond school-level support, the Director plays an essential role in advancing regional priorities by managing and implementing strategic initiatives, strengthening accountability systems, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. The Director also contributes thought leadership to the development of system-wide operations policies and practices, helping to set and raise the standard of excellence across the network.

Key Responsibilities:
The Director of School Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Responsibilities of the Director of School Operations include, but are not limited to:
Operations Coaching & Support
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to campus-based operations leaders to drive excellence in daily school operations.
- Conduct regular site visits, operational walkthroughs, and audits to assess systems and provide actionable feedback.
- Serve as a thought partner with school leaders, helping to identify and implement best practices across campuses.
Strategic Initiatives & Accountability
- Support the planning and execution of regional strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Strengthen accountability systems that track operational performance, compliance, and efficiency.
- Lead process improvement efforts to increase consistency, sustainability, and organizational efficiency across schools.
Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Ensure campuses adhere to all local, state, and federal education and workplace regulations.
- Monitor compliance with safety, attendance, and operational requirements; provide guidance and corrective action as needed.
- Support monitoring of compliance items for DOOs for tracking and documentation
- Commission Schools: maintain a regional reporting calendar
- MNPS: Maintain and support use of the Digital Binder
- Attend authorizer school-specific compliance trainings and Compliance Corner hours to ensure alignment.
- Support with Title I requirements, including Title I meetings and ensuring family compact/engagement policies are compliant.
- Support and progress monitor the handbook project.
- Assist with safety drill execution, monitor internal safety drill logs, ensure required training is executed and documentation is submitted.
Financial & Resource Stewardship
- Provide oversight and guidance on campus-level discretionary spending to minimize loss and optimize resources.
- Support campus leaders in aligning budgets, purchasing, and vendor management with organizational priorities.
- Ensure operational decisions are made with a focus on maximizing student impact and efficient resource use.
School Operations Systems
- Ensure core school operations systems (arrival/dismissal, attendance, scheduling, transportation, recruitment & enrollment, and ops team meetings) are running effectively across campuses.
- Accelerate and support master scheduling processes to ensure every student has access to the courses needed to meet achievement goals.
- Partner with regional and school leadership to troubleshoot operational challenges and design sustainable solutions.
System Level Leadership
- Contribute to the development and codification of standard operating procedures, ensuring consistency across the network.
- Provide policy recommendations and strategic advice to regional leadership on school operations.
- Identify system-level improvements and drive innovation to raise the bar for operational excellence in the areas of attendance, safety & security, campus operational systems, scheduling & enrollment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of project management in School Operations
- Minimum 3 years of adult management experience
- Experience to giving and receiving frequent feedback
- Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment

Additional Information
- Salary range is $90-$100,000
- This position is exempt, and will work and be compensated according to a 12 month administrative schedule.
- This role is in-person. Employees will be able to work from both of our offices located in Nashville and Antioch.
- Leaders are provided with laptop computers with access to the internet and or email to assist them in performing their job responsibilities.
