Disability and Access Specialist Full Description

As a disability and access specialist, you will efficiently manage an active caseload of students with accessibility needs to determine academic adjustments and reasonable accommodations based on student documentation and compliance with Section 504 and ADA guidelines. You will attend weekly case conferences and participate in quarterly student orientations as assigned. Among other duties, you will engage in an interactive review process to determine accommodations for students' living environments and participate in regular meetings to improve the housing accommodation process. You will also stay updated on relevant legislation to ensure informed decision-making and provide students with appropriate community referrals tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. Additionally, you will contribute to outreach, psychoeducational program development, and presentations that increase awareness and understanding of disability services.           

In this role, you will participate in university-wide efforts to improve access for students with accessibility support needs and provide them with the appropriate community referrals. Responsibilities include the prompt documentation of student interactions in Titanium, maintenance of a current schedule in the master calendar, and report preparation for your supervisor's signature and approval. You will also monitor and update the disability services database to ensure it contains accurate and up-to-date information. Additionally, you will serve as a resource to the university in areas related to adaptive computer technology and other relevant resources. Among other duties, you will organize and implement executive functioning support in both group and one-on-one environments, inform your supervisor of staff development needs, and participate in department performance improvement initiatives.

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
