Job Summary | The counselor will play a vital role in supporting high school students enrolled in our dual-enrollment and early college pathways, guiding them through their transition to college-level coursework, helping them set academic and career goals, and fostering their success in both high school and college. They will assist the student in the following areas:
-Student Advising
-Progress Monitoring-Enrollment and Registration
-Outreach and Support
-Resource Coordination
-CollaborationMinimum Qualifications 1.Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Public Administration, or other related field.
2.Minimum of one year K-12 or higher education experience, ideally in an academic program management or admissions/student services role
3.Experience working with high school students and/or dual enrollment initiatives
4.Willingness to travel and attend events outside normal business hours (approximately 5% of the time)
5.Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation communication skills
6.Ability to work independently and as part of a team
7.Must have transportation, current valid driver’s license, maintain commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications 1. Master’s degree preferred
2. Familiarity with the Alabama high school system
3. Familiarity with dual enrollment and early college policies
4. Experience collaborating with K-12 and higher education partners
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? | Driving is a primary responsibility
Work Hours | Monday-Friday, 8am- 5pm, to include evenings and weekends as necessary
Hours will vary based on student need and event schedules
Extensive travel by automobile will be required
List any hazardous conditions or physical demands required by this position | Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, work at a computer for numerous hours in the day and travel to events out of town.
