Springer Publishing Company is looking for an eCommerce Product Manager (Technical Lead) to join our Information Systems and Services Team. YouA'll lead the strategic development and enhancement of our Adobe Commerce Cloud (Magento) platform, serving as a technical thought leader ready to provide hands-on guidance to our development team.

This role calls for a strategic product leader with deep technical expertise in Adobe Commerce and strong project management skills. You'll be crucial in directly engaging with business owners and stakeholders to gather their needs and wants, translating these into comprehensive business requirements, and securing their sign-off. From there, you'll design and provide detailed functional requirements for implementation by the development team. You'll also coordinate cross-functional efforts, manage vendors, and leverage data to enhance eCommerce functionality and user experience.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale digital programs, a keen eye for identifying process improvements, and technical confidence to navigate complex environments and lead developers from a place of deep understanding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Product Leadership: Drive the strategic development and continuous improvement of our Magento eCommerce platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Business & Technical Translation: Act as the primary technical liaison, working directly with business owners and stakeholders to gather and define detailed business requirements, then translating these into precise functional and technical specifications for the development team.
  • Hands-On Technical Guidance: Provide direct technical guidance, including code reviews, troubleshooting, and demonstrating best coding practices within Adobe Commerce.
  • Codebase & Repository Ownership: Take ownership of the Adobe Commerce codebase, including coordinating the transition of existing GitHub repositories and establishing internal coding standards.
  • Roadmap Management: Define and maintain the product roadmap, balancing customer value, business impact, and technical constraints.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, designers, and business stakeholders to execute product plans and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Agile Implementation: Champion Agile methodologies for transparency and iterative development.
  • Data-Driven Enhancements: Utilize data insights, customer feedback, and market research to identify and implement opportunities for improved digital experiences.
 
Technical Skills & Expertise:
  • Adobe Commerce Cloud (Magento) Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Commerce Cloud (Magento 2.x) architecture, customization, and performance optimization.
  • PHP Development: Strong, hands-on experience with PHP, including object-oriented programming and an understanding of Magento's core frameworks.
  • Front-End Technologies: Solid understanding and practical experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Version Control & Git Expertise: Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with GitHub for version control, including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and managing complex repositories. Proven ability to take over and manage existing codebases from external vendors.
  • Integration & API Management: Hands-on experience with Magento integrations, third-party extensions, and API connectivity.
  • Database Fundamentals: Familiarity with relational databases, specifically MySQL/MariaDB.
 
Professional Experience:
  • Adobe Commerce Development Background: Minimum 3 years of hands-on Adobe Commerce (Magento 2.x) development experience.
  • eCommerce Product Management: Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Management or Program Management.
  • Technical Leadership & Execution: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical solutions.
  • Codebase Ownership & Transition: Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of a technical product or codebase, with experience reverse engineering existing solutions.

Professional Experience:
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in Program Management or Product Development, specifically in the eCommerce domain.
  • Leadership & Execution: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in high-paced environments to deliver complex technical solutions.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects from ideation through execution, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with business goals.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience working within Agile environments, leading sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Vendor Relations: Strong vendor management experience, including negotiating contracts and overseeing third-party development teams.
