The Editor, Literacy is responsible for the development and support of PreK–5th grade Literacy programs. This role utilizes educational background, curriculum knowledge, and on-the-job training in editorial processes to develop and maintain innovative English/Language Arts instructional materials.

This position will report to the Editorial Director for Literacy and will work closely with other Editors, Senior Editors, Managing Editors, Editorial Analysts, Digital Editors, and Design.

This is a term of project position, expected to last for one year.

Responsibilities:
  • Developing digital and print prototype and program content.
  • Aligning scope and sequence with various requirements, rubrics, and/or standards.
  • Editing for quality content aligned with the Science of Reading.
  • Handling all aspects of digital and manuscript publishing.
  • Ensuring all duties are completed on time, on budget, and aligned with product vision.
  • Writing, editing, revising, reviewing, and providing constructive feedback.

Required Knowledge and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field AND 5 years of experience with instructional materials development.
  • Superior writing skills, including excellent grasp of grammar, usage, and editorial best practices.
  • Demonstrable a thorough understanding of the Science of Reading.
  • Experience with or understanding of multilingual learners/English Language Development.
  • Self-motivated, detailed oriented, and focused in remote work setting.
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Proficiency in G-Suite (including Gemini) and Adobe Acrobat; experience with MS Word, Excel, Smartsheet, JIRA preferred.
