Educational Program Coordinator I Full Description

Position Summary
Provide administrative assistance to the MPLP Program Administrator; Assist IPPSR’s Michigan Political Leadership Program; Ability to travel to MPLP sessions, including overnight (10 sessions per year); Assist MPLP with planning and implementation of program and weekend programming activities. Such includes coordination of itinerary for weekend programs, curriculum design, communicating with and recruiting weekend facilitators, securing venues, annual fundraising events, coordinating, collaborating and contracting with vendors, presenters, and program sponsors, Writing and editing program documents, recruiting and organizing staff and volunteers, and processing paperwork, and providing technical support. Facilitate workshops as needed; Manage and maintain MPLP database; Assist with authorship and layout design of the Institute’s internal and external media and press information; oversee and coordinate scholarship funds; Organize and maintain records and a database for MPLP donors and alumni. Responsible for all communications with donors regarding contributions. Keep donors apprised of all MPLP events and activities; Assist with the planning and implementation of the MPLP annual fundraising events; assistance with approximately 500 attendees in organizing the logistical and operational details events; Assist with alumni communications and activities; Collaborate with MPLP Leadership and alumni regarding alumni receptions, events, sponsorship and programming activities related to MPLP.  The MPLP cohort consists of approximately 800 members. Interacts with support staff, interns, volunteers, program participants, speakers, public agencies, professional committee members, university representatives, and media representatives to direct, present, develop, exchange information, coordinate, and implement programs and projects. 
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which generally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree or specialization in business administration; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences including public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web-based; budget and records maintenance and computer support; experience in supervision, database, spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, knowledge of HTML programming and web site development and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Desired Qualifications
One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences including public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web-based; budget and records maintenance and computer support. Prior work experience with organizational skills, ability to multi-task and ability to work with a wide range of individuals from all over the state; experience in working with public policy professionals, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written); experience in team environment, project development, and coordinating programs.
