Job Description: Epic Patient Access & Revenue Cycle Instructional Designer Contractor
 
Position Overview
CTG seeks an experienced contractor to design, develop, and deliver high-quality training programs for Epic’s Patient Access and Revenue Cycle applications. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in Epic Patient Access and Revenue Cycle workflows with strong instructional design skills to create engaging, effective learning experiences for end users and trainers.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Design & Curriculum Development
    • Design and develop comprehensive training curricula and instructional materials tailored to Epic Patient Access and Revenue Cycle workflows, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and adult learning principles
    • Develop and maintain scenario-based learning experiences, knowledge checks, and competency assessments to reinforce learning objectives
  • Epic System Expertise
    • Collaborate with Information Technology teams to determine educational requirements for new and existing applications
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on Epic Patient Access and Revenue Cycle modules
    • Collaborate with application analysts, build teams, and end users to ensure training content accurately reflects system workflows and best practices
    • Completes assessments as required for new systems implementations
    • Confers with management and other staff to determine technological and instructional resource requirements for new systems implementations
  • Planning & Development
    • Plans and develops educational activities and instructional materials for highly technical computer/information technology projects based on 
      assessed needs and/or departmental goals/strategic plan 
      (i.e. Epic)
    • Structures eLearning/ILT lesson plans/teaching materials to reflect the needs and/or participation of diverse groups.
    • Incorporates knowledge of adult learning theory and practices into educational program design.
    • Expertly applies Instructional Systems Design Model to frame specific curricula to meet identified learning and performance requirements/needs.
    • Edits courseware for form, function, and grammar.
    • Oversees and coordinates the development and preparation of teaching and visual aids, instructional materials, and reference materials 
      appropriate to support courses and specific program objectives.
    • Evaluates the effectiveness of training and development programs and uses relevant evaluation date to revise or recommend changes in 
      instruction or delivery methods
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills and class
    management
    • Acts as instructor for courses as needed to maintain definitive, best practice delivery and presentation skills.
    • Designs, plans, implements, evaluates, monitors successful delivery of educational programs within areas of responsibility.
    • Assures appropriate staffing for classes within areas of responsibility.
    • Utilizes LMS to input enrollment and completion activities. Assures documentation is accurate & maintained.
    • Reviews end user surveys and solicits feedback to maintain a positive learning environment in the classrooms.
    • Ensures availability of all necessary training materials.
    • Identifies potential training gaps/issues and works with the other training team members to resolve.
    • Posts all pertinent documentation on SharePoint and X drive in an organized manner that serves the entire team
  • Completes special assignments or projects to meet 
    Departmental needs. Demonstrates initiative by seeking 
    additional assignments.
    • Maintains historical records on all active projects.
    • Maintains and can easily retrieve status reports on all active projects.
    • Documentation is consistent and concise. It reflects critical data and justification for priorities.
    • Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, and both short and long term planning for instructor-led and web-based training issues.

Qualifications
  • Required Experience & Skills
    • Proven experience as an Epic-certified Principal Trainer or Instructional Designer with a focus on Patient Access and Revenue Cycle modules
    • Strong background in instructional design, including curriculum development, eLearning authoring tools, and adult learning theory
    • Ability to design and deliver engaging, effective training for a variety of audiences, including end users and trainers
    • Experience building and maintaining Epic training environments and test data
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Preferred Credentials
    • Epic certifications in relevant Patient Access and Revenue Cycle applications
    • Experience in healthcare IT or clinical training environments

Location & Duration
This is a contract position with flexible location options, including remote work. The contract duration will be determined based on project needs.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $70.00/hour to $80.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
