Cengage Academic is seeking an Event Specialist responsible for the logistical execution of trade shows and in-person hosted events. The Event Specialist will work closely with stakeholders to ensure all trade shows reflect and support our overarching brand, product & campaign strategies.
Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with members of the marketing, product, and sales teams to implement trade shows and customer events
- Provide strategic event management expertise to marketing and product partners throughout the execution process
- Lead all aspects of trade show and event execution from launch to completion
- Manage and supervise event budgets and spend, including timely payments for all services provided to Cengage
- Review and analyse post-event feedback and customer interactions for future improvements
- Provide logistical support to team members as needed, ranging from meeting food orders to registration site builds and customer satisfaction survey creation
- Based on project, specific duties could include:
- Work with multiple vendors to secure booth space, arrange for equipment, utilities and inbound/outbound shipments
- Site research, selection and contract review for event venues and services
- Build and maintain online registration sites (using Cvent)
- Coordinate and communicate logistics for A/V, internet, sleeping rooms, equipment rental, parking, air and ground transportation, food and beverage, etc.
- Make sure to communicate clearly with customers to give them the information they need to market and promote all upcoming events
- Travel to events to provide onsite management as needed
Requirements:
Must have
- BA in Hospitality, Marketing, or other related experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 1-3 Years of tradeshow/event planning
- 1-3 Years contract negotiation experience
- 1-2 years of using events to drive Brand Awareness, Demand Generation and Sales Enablement
- Exceptional project management skills with utmost attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with a positive attitude and ability to learn
- Ability to travel 5 to 8 times per year
- Able to meet physical demands associated with essential functions of the role, including lifting 50 lbs., packing and unpacking event materials, and standing for extended periods
- Requires proficiency with MS Office and Office 365 and a mastery of Excel
Preferred
- Strong understanding of events impact on the marketing funnel and sales pipeline
- Experience with Event Technology (Cvent or similar) and Project Management technology (Workfront or similar)

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.$20.00 - $25.00 USD
