| Job Summary/Basic Function |
Events Duties Lead the planning and coordination of career events at Weber State University. Develop event strategies aligned with department goals, ensuring strong student and employer engagement. Manage event logistics such as venue reservations, employer registration and communication, scheduling, staffing, equipment setup, and signage. Track attendance and engagement, conduct post-event evaluations, and apply insights to improve future events. Maintain timelines, budgets, and task lists to ensure seamless execution from concept to completion. This position is responsible for planning and supervising the following events:

Communication Duties The Events & Communication Coordinator will plan, develop, and implement communication and public relations efforts for the Weber State University Career Services department to keep students, faculty, staff, employers, and (Utah universities) informed of department services, events, programs, activities, and accomplishments. This individual will develop a year-long Career Services master communication plan for the department. In addition, this individual will coordinate and create print and digital content that is released through the Handshake emailing system, various social media platforms, ad managers with geofenced ads, Screencloud TVs, and WSU publications, webpages, and buildings. This individual will be responsible for basic Career Services website updates through SiteManager. This position will also provide video-editing to Career Services on an as needed basis (e.g. – social media, ads, Screencloud, website, and employer promotion). The Events & Communication Coordinator will work directly with the SAS Marketing & Communications: Student Communications team, and other campus stakeholders, to ensure compliance with university branding and standards. Conduct research and surveys to collect data on student and employer sentiments, preferences, and trends. Supervision, Leadership, and Department Representative Duties: Supervise and mentor the Career Services Events & Communications Intern, provide guidance on project priorities, social media and design strategies, email communication, and data analysis. Lead weekly communication team meetings, and coordinate efforts with the SAS Marketing & Communications: Student Communications team, seeking insights from the associate graphic designer and marketing coordinator on producing marketing materials and plans regarding campus-wide career events. Serve as a primary liaison between Career Services and campus partners—including SAS Marketing & Communications: Student Communications, Office of Graduate Studies, the Dumke College of Health Professions, and the College of Science—for collaborative communication and event support. Represent Career Services in statewide professional associations such as UACE (Utah Association of Colleges and Employers), plan and support initiatives like graduate fairs, alumni fairs, and the Design Your Life Conference in partnership with Stanford University. Maintain regular communication with WSU’s Handshake representative to ensure optimal platform use and support. |
