Position Description: | Position Summary:The part-time Public Relations & Communications Department – General Fund Student will assist the public relations & communications department team members in a variety of tasks. While in the position, the candidate will have the opportunity to gain the following skills: Analytical and critical thinking skills. Writing and editing skills. Teamwork and leadership skills. Organic social media skills. Other skills include time management, collaboration, adaptability, research/analysis, initiative and receptiveness and social media expertise.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Create organic social media content, particularly video. Create basic graphics for campus digital signage and social media. Create media advisories and calendar listings. Assist with monitoring traditional and social media for relevant news about WCC and higher education. Assist with reporting on WCC and competitor social media results. Assist with management of photograph and video library systems. Other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule: This a part-time position that will have varying hours (not to exceed 20 hours/week) that may include evenings and weekends. Continuation of employment is reviewed at the end of each semester.
Minimum Qualifications: | Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 (six) credit hours for the current academic year. Proficiency in correct English grammar and spelling. Proficiency in social media. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and Google products required; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Ability to work evenings and weekends, on rare occasions. Maintain a positive, team-driven attitude while supporting our students, colleagues, and community. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Maintain and contribute to an organized workspace.
