The Executive Director develops strategic partnerships, secures funding, oversees operations including budget and communications, and aligns the Institute's mission with the School and University's goals.

Highlights

  • Lead and grow the Eshelman Institute for Innovation to become a nationally and internationally recognized institution.
  • Manage Institute staff, operations, budget, and programs including funding innovative ideas and large funded projects.
  • Develop and foster strategic collaborations, partnerships, and attract gifts and investments.
  • Monetize intellectual property assets to sustain the Institute.
  • Communicate Institute activities and impact internally and externally to build a strong brand.
  • Critically evaluate and refine strategy with input from the EII Steering Board and manage Board membership processes.
  • Minimum requirements: relevant post-Baccalaureate degree with 3+ years of related experience or Bachelor’s with 5+ years; Master’s or professional degree required, PhD preferred; 10-15 years of experience; strategic planning and implementation experience.
  • Preferred skills include leadership across complex organizations, academic policies knowledge, business development, client relationship management, and experience engaging with corporate partners and high-level donors.
  • Reports to the Dean of UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
  • Full-time permanent staff position with salary dependent on qualifications and proposed start date August 1, 2025.
