Description of Work  | The Executive Director of Admissions is responsible for the leadership of undergraduate admissions and recruitment designed to attract and enroll a talented, diverse student population to Nebraska. This individual will guide the work of those within the Office of Admissions and those embedded in the academic units – and will oversee a budget of approximately $4.5 million dollars. The successful candidate will be collaborative, transparent, innovative, and entrepreneurial, with the vision and confidence to serve as a campus leader and a willingness to take calculated risks to engage students and families in new ways.

The Executive Director of Admissions will serve as an internal leader and the authority on all admissions decisions and processing for the Office of Admissions and external voice for the value of a Nebraska degree.

Reporting to the associate vice chancellor of academic services and enrollment management (ASEM), the Executive Director will be a key member of ASEM’s leadership team and other academic and student affairs committees on-campus, representing the division to the university and the public.

Minimum Required Qualifications  | A Bachelor’s degree and seven years of experience in undergraduate admission or a related field. Knowledge of higher education undergraduate admissions strategies and tactics. Facility with modern recruitment and office technologies and best practices regarding their use. Proficiency at navigating challenges and making decisions. Proven team leadership, planning and management skills. Critical Thinking and analytical skills necessary to lead and develop a dynamic, enthusiastic, and high-achieving team. Experience building strong professional relationships with diverse groups of constituents. Readiness to manage newcomers and experienced professionals in the admissions field; capable of developing employees from different generations and backgrounds. Ability to manage and deliver sensitive information, tactfully and professionally. Ability to understand data and potential impacts of decisions on recruitment cycle and overall yield with the ability to communicate related data to diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal skills to allow for effective and positive communication with manage across all operational areas of the university.

Preferred Qualifications  | A master’s degree in education, marketing, business, communication or a related field. 5 years in a leadership role within an undergraduate admissions office. Familiarity with the complexity and unique needs of a large, decentralized institution. Knowledge of the state of Nebraska and its challenges recruiting underrepresented populations.
