Position Summary  | Provides processing and customer service assistance for the Office of Financial Aid to ensure that all students, staff, faculty, and community are well served and in a timely manner.
Description of Key Responsibilities  | Provide positive customer service to current students, prospective students and parents and guiding them through the financial aid process. Provide general administrative support for the Office of Financial Aid. Assist student and parents with filling out necessary forms. Assist in the maintenance of student financial aid files. Prepare and process documents to be provided to internal offices/personnel, external entities, and correspondences with students. Handle complex and highly confidential material with the utmost attention to sensitivity and care, in accordance with College policy and applicable regulations. Assist in supervision of student workers. Oversees document processing for student aid files. Assist with administration of Federal Work Study. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  | An individual in this position must possess the proficiency, wherewithal and knowledge of principles and processes for providing high-quality service to both internal and external constituents of the College. Strong written and verbal communications with proven ability to maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents in order to provide support for the office and the students it serves required. Ability to quickly grasp knowledge of the College organization and operation, both administratively and academically, relating to financial aid. Ability to deal with several tasks and work with a large number of individuals concurrently, often without direct supervision. This requires a person who is well organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to effectively prioritize tasks.
Distinguishing Characteristics  | The Financial Aid Specialist for the Office of Financial Aid must be able to interact with students, their families, and other internal and external college community members while continuously providing a high level of service and positive interaction.
The person in this position must also be knowledgeable about financial aid policies and processes, be well organized, detail oriented, possess the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and be flexible in regards to changing priorities and tasks as needed.
Education/Training  | A high school diploma is required. The equivalent of at least one year of college level training in office administration tasks.
Experience  | At least two years of experience in an administrative office environment, particularly one dealing directly with the public.
