Job Summary
The Global Cooperative Education Programs Specialist leads the development, implementation, and expansion of Purdue’s Global Engineering Alliance for Research and Education (GEARE) program. This position plays a key role in coordinating international university and employer partnerships, advising students on professional development and placement, administering GEARE scholarships, and increasing awareness of GEARE across the Purdue campus.
This student-facing, globally oriented role serves as a connector between students, faculty, staff, and external partners. This position also contributes to strategic efforts to enhance access to internships abroad for GEARE students and for students in other OPP programs, such as the Semiconductors and Microelectronics and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Certificate programs. Furthermore, it will work to grow scholarship funding, and promote GEARE across internal and external networks.

What You'll Be Doing:
Global Partnership Coordination
- Develop new and maintain existing relationships with international universities and global employers to facilitate GEARE student mobility and internships.
- Coordinate with OPP, College of Engineering, and University leadership to develop new partnerships in target regions and industries that align with student and university interests.
- Maintain documentation and records related to institutional partnerships and agreements.
Student Advising and Professional Development
- Provide one-on-one and group advising to GEARE students on academic planning, global opportunities, and internship preparation.
- Assist students in selecting and securing appropriate international internship placements and matching opportunities to academic and career goals.
- Develop curriculum and teach ENGR 29600: GEARE Professional Prep, providing content or instruction that helps students develop workplace readiness and global professional skills
- Assist with the instruction of ENGR 29701, ENGR 39700, and ENGR 49700 seminar courses aimed at preparing students for global experiences, maximizing global experience, and enhancing global professional skills.
Program Operations and Events
- Organize and coordinate GEARE-related events, such as info sessions, networking nights, conferences, and site visits.
- Support Purdue’s involvement in national and international GEARE activities, including managing logistics and communication with partner institutions.
- Develop systems for collecting data on student participation, internship placements, and employer satisfaction.
- Use data to support continuous program improvement, reporting, and accreditation or funding requests
Compliance and Risk Management
- Lead efforts to monitor compliance with international work regulations and visa requirements relevant to GEARE internships.
- Collaborate with Risk Management and Legal Counsel to ensure students participating in international experiences have appropriate health insurance and risk mitigation support.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Anthropology, Communications, Engineering, or Relevant Field
- Five (5) years-experience in education, higher education, or industry
Skills needed:
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with international travel
- Experience with building relationships
- Experience organizing events
- Project management experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Strong interpersonal skills for relating effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, university staff, alumni, and employers
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in a second language
