Graduate Admissions Counselor Full Description

Pay Range: USD $20.50 - USD $22.50 /Yr.

Overview:

The Graduate Admissions Counselor is the primary point of contact for prospective students from their initial interest until they are accepted into one of Clarkson’s Professional Graduate Programs. The position may require some evening and weekend work, flexible hours and occasional travel.

 

General Purpose: They guide interested prospects through the application process, and actively communicate with prospects to assure exceptional service. Internally, they maintain records of all interactions and manage related systems and processes as a prospect inquires, applies, and is accepted or rejected.

 

Responsibilities:

• Engages with prospective Clarkson Graduate and Professional Students from initial interest (i.e. inquiries/leads) through application decision
• Actively communicates with prospects and applicants using phone, text, email, web chat, and other communication channels; and logs all information and interactions in Clarkson’s CRM (Slate)
• Follows relevant processes and uses appropriate systems in order to maintain accurate records of prospective students and communications related to their interest in Clarkson
• Explains and advises prospective students on Clarkson’s admission process, program offerings, requirements, and career opportunities for each program
• Represents Clarkson at virtual and in-person events geared towards prospects interested in Professional Graduate Programs
• Processes and evaluates applications following Clarkson’s admissions practices
• Maintains a detailed understanding and awareness of Clarkson’s program offerings
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Graduate Admissions
• This role requires 40–50% travel during the spring and fall recruiting cycles each academic year.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to operate a rental vehicle.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimal Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in higher education, business administration, management or a related field required

 

Experience:
Minimal Experience: 1 year, preferably in a sales, customer service, or other higher education role

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in higher education or a related field
• 2 or more years of admissions, recruitment, or sales experience

Essential Skills:

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
• Confident and clear in presenting information
• Able to work well with people from different cultural backgrounds
• Organized and attentive to detail
• Skilled at building and maintaining positive working relationships
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google tools (Docs, Slides, and others)
• Experienced in data entry, management, and processing to support informed decisions.
