Job Summary  | With extensive institutional and departmental knowledge, this position works within the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program to coordinate a diverse population of students regarding their academic planning and progress. 

This position will assist the University in promoting a climate of respect and equity that cultivates and sustains transformative practices by forging spaces of possibility where people feel safe, valued, welcomed, and respects all students in their quest for individual success through graduate degree programs.   Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

PharmD student academic advising; PharmD student progression and scholastic standards; assisting PharmD students to engage with main campus student services (e.g., The Graduate School, registrar, financial aid, residency, etc.); monitoring PharmD student well-being and referral to external resources (e.g., student counseling center; social support services); assisting in planning and implementation of college events (e.g., applicant interview days, new student orientation, coating ceremony, senior banquet, convocation); assisting with other interdepartmental education programs (e.g., P-SURF); collaboration with Experiential Education team to ensure continuity of student progression; and coordinating with faculty on student matters assist in student organizations as needed
Acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.

Responsibilities  | Essential Functions Performs administrative tasks to support graduate students. Activities include, but not limited to, record-keeping, program of study coordination, scheduling, course-planning, graduation tracking. May serve as point of contact for graduate admissions decisions. Actively participates in campus-based professional development communities, including but not limited to GAPA or other relevant campus-based organizations that directly impact their position. Duties include sub-committee chair/participation. Collects and disseminates information to students, faculty and departments about changes in degree requirements or University policies and adjusts advising strategies as appropriate. May chair or participate in search committees for new hires in department, including both staff and faculty roles. Participates in programming communities for students within their area. Including, but not limited to activities such as overseeing a mentoring program, student organization, etc. Advises on graduate committee development. May assign course work for specific program of study and participate in course planning. Provides curriculum feedback at the program level. May submit department curriculum changes to university-wide curriculum tracking. May serve on University committees and makes recommendations that affect curriculum requirements, advising processes and program development and published materials. Power user for University-wide application review platforms. Coordinate and organize admission portfolios for graduate committees. Participates in recruitment activities for potential graduate student candidates. Processes graduate school applications and coordinates with graduate committees with any interview processes. Acts in partnership with faculty to coordinate scheduling exams, or defenses. Assists students with developing a working relationship with faculty in the assigned program. Coordinate and plan events management related to graduate programs, graduate student orientation, graduate conferences, and professional development events. With extensive institutional knowledge, acts as a resource for graduate student roles and is a liaison between the department and the Graduate School on campus. Interprets policies set by the Graduate School to meet the unique needs of the academic program or unit.  Problem Solving

Often selects from a predetermined list of alternatives and sometimes recommends or changes policy and procedure based upon amount of discretion given by department. Problems would be referred to superior based upon predetermined guidelines set by the department.

Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

4 years’ of related experience.
