Work Schedule | Part-time hourly position without state benefits. Wage employees are restricted to working approximately 29 hours per week or less, not to exceed 1,500 hours annually. Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds Community College is seeking a creative and dynamic Graphic Design and Social Media Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for designing visually compelling graphics and managing our social media presence to enhance brand awareness, engagement, and overall marketing efforts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong eye for design, proficiency in digital marketing, and a passion for social media trends and brand storytelling.
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
Graphic Design:
Create high-quality visuals for digital and print media, including logo designs, social media graphics, advertisements, brochures, flyers, banners, presentations, and website content. Develop and maintain a consistent brand identity across all marketing materials. Collaborate with the marketing team to conceptualize and execute campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and business goals. Work directly with print production vendors and assist with creating print-ready files
Social Media Management:
Help manage the overall social strategy and content calendar, taking a holistic view of marketing activities for Reynolds that engage target audiences. Create, schedule, and publish engaging content, including graphics, videos, and copy, tailored for each platform. Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics to optimize content and engagement strategies. Engage with the online community by responding to comments, messages, and user-generated content in a timely and brand-appropriate manner. Conduct market research and stay informed about social media trends, competitors, and best practices to enhance performance. Collaborate with influencers, partners, and stakeholders to expand brand reach and engagement. Assist with coordinating photo and video shoots.
Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications | Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rush), email management programs (Constant Contact) and/or other design tools (Canva).Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices Experience with social content management systems and scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, etc.). Excellent communication, storytelling, and copywriting skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Additional Considerations | Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, and paid social media advertising is a plus. Knowledge of large environmental graphics creation and production
