Everyday Speech is a no-prep digital curriculum that makes teaching social, behavioral, and communication skills easy and effective. The MTSS-aligned curriculum combines evidence-based video modeling, interactive web games, and worksheets to provide educators everything they need to support both neurodiverse and neurotypical PK-12 students. Everyday Speech is trusted by 50,000+ special educators, speech-language pathologists, counselors, and other specialists for targeted interventions and whole-class lessons that help students build the skills they need to thrive.

Everyday Speech is right for you if:

You care about making a positive impact.
End each day knowing your work directly impacted educators across North America in our mission to build the most impactful PreK-12 social skills curriculum and make teaching it effortless. Success goes beyond shipping features here; we’re improving the lives of educators and their students. To achieve this, we create meaningful content, stay closely connected to our users, and maintain consistently high NPS scores as a fully bootstrapped company growing organically and sustainably.

You value being a part of a company that takes care of its team.

Not only do we have extremely happy team members, we also have incredible perks. Participate in our health/wellness and retirement benefit offerings, and between having every other Friday off (3-day weekends!) and our flexible PTO plan, that elusive work-life balance is an actual thing here. We’ve also never had an office and never will. We take remote work seriously and know how to support a distributed team. We give you the flexibility to work in a way that’s best for you, but still have high standards and accountability. These are just some of the reasons why our eNPS score from 2025 was 78.

You want to be at a company whose values are more than just words on a wall.

Our values are at the forefront of our decisions, how we recognize each other, how we challenge ourselves—everything we do. Our values mean something, and with that guiding light, we are able to land with clarity, create alignment, identify our strengths, and move with purpose. Hear it directly from a team member: “I love the values. I never imagined I could end up in a position that was so connected to the things that mattered to me most”.

The Head of Strategic Operations owns the operating rhythm that turns our strategy into what people actually do every day.

You'll work directly with the CEO to shape how we plan, prioritize, and execute, bringing operational expertise to complement vision. You're not inheriting a finished system, but you're not working in a vacuum either. You'll design it together, then run it ongoing.

This is a hands-on, in-the-room role. You'll facilitate leadership meetings, run planning cycles, and keep cross-functional work on track. When priorities compete or ownership is unclear, you're the one forcing the conversation. You've built operating systems before, not just run them. You know what good looks like, but you don't assume your last company's system works here. You'd rather learn how we work first and build from there.

Location:
We are a fully remote team with a global presence. We are looking for a Head of Strategic Operations based in the US.

The ideal candidate is extremely values aligned:

We start with empathy— in the work we do and the people we do it with. Our strength comes from a culture that values candidness, trust, and valuing our teammates as whole human beings. We care, challenge, and communicate. We are serious about our responsibility to educators, who rely on us every day.

● We ruthlessly prioritize.
We don ’t just say no to the obvious stuff, we say no to the things that feel important in the moment because we understand anything we say yes to is inherently saying no to something else.

We create momentum. We don’t let the small stuff hold us back. We learn by shipping. We know most actions are reversible and that action always wins in the long run. If all else fails, bias towards action.

We are fearlessly objective. We don't do things just because we're "supposed to." We constantly ask "why" and don’t let conventional norms define our efforts. We're not afraid to seek answers, even if that means discovering we were wrong. We focus on what delivers results, regardless of the source.

● We exercise agency. We have the ability to create systems that don’t yet exist to get what we need or to solve problems no one has identified. If something isn’t working, it’s within our control to fix it.

We’re driven to grow. We set ambitious goals because we want to maximize our impact. We embrace challenges and take risks, seeing failures as opportunities to learn and improve. We seek out feedback and coaching and thrive in environments that push us.

In this role, you will:

  • Make strategy real. Strategy documents don't mean much unless they translate into workstreams the company actually treats as top priority. That's your job.
  • Run our planning cycles. Own quarterly and annual planning end-to-end. Translate strategy into OKRs, rocks, and capacity plans. Make sure what we said we'd do is what we're actually doing.
  • Build reporting that doesn’t suck. None of us want silos, but most reporting processes are too onerous and don’t add value. Build us the best of both worlds.
  • Facilitate leadership meetings. Help us make better decisions, faster. Move a room of opinionated people toward clarity and keep us honest about what we committed to.
  • Make cross-functional work actually function. Our default project is cross-functional. When projects span teams, you're the one making sure there's a clear owner, the right people are in the room, and it actually ships.
  • Surface conflicts early. Capacity crunches, competing priorities, unclear ownership - you see these coming before they become crises and force the conversations that resolve them.
  • Help us Ruthlessly Prioritize. Our most important, yet hardest to maintain value. You help us create systems to evaluate what we’re doing against our top priorities. When someone wants to say "yes" you're helping us ask "what are we saying no to?"
  • Improve the system as you go. We’re driven to grow. You'll spot what's not working and fix it.

We know great candidates come from a wide range of backgrounds. If you’re passionate about what we’re building at Everyday Speech, don’t hesitate to apply—even if you’re not sure you meet every qualification.

What We’re Looking For

In addition to exceptional values alignment:

  • You've done this before. Actually built planning and operating systems at a company of similar size (50-150 people, $15-30M revenue) and watched people use them. You know what good looks like, but you don't assume your last company's system works here.
  • You run good meetings. Create clarity, drive to decisions, end on time.
  • You can hold your own in a room with department heads. You're not afraid to say "that doesn't fit our strategic priorities".
  • You're a systems thinker, but hate complexity. When given the choice between a sophisticated process and a simple one that works, you pick simple every time.
  • You write clearly. Docs are the foundation of how decisions get made here.
  • You're always learning. You read, you experiment, you throw out what isn't working and try something new. You’re kind of obsessed with getting better.
  • SaaS experience is a plus but not required.

In the short term (the first 3 months), you will:

Month 1: Learn. Shadow everything. ELT meetings, planning conversations, cross-functional projects. Map how work actually flows (not how we say it flows). Find the 2-3 friction points that hurt the most. Find some wins.

Month 2: Build. Pick one or two friction points from Month 1 and fix them. Nothing fancy, just make something work better than it did before. Keep learning. Start facilitating meetings where it makes sense. People should feel something getting easier.

Month 3: Run.
Run your first planning cycle. Document your first playbook. Propose what the operating rhythm should look like going forward. By now, you're not learning the system. You're building it.

What success looks like at 12 months:
  • Cross-functional projects ship on time with clear owners
  • Capacity conflicts surface early, not at crisis point
  • Decisions don't stall because ownership is unclear
  • Decisions made without the CEO clearly reflect our strategy and North Star
  • We're using the full capacity of the talented team we already have
  • High performers stay (and say the system helps them do their best work)
  • Revenue growth outpaces headcount growth
