The University of South Carolina is hiring a Human Resources Coordinator to support HR operations at USC Beaufort. The coordinator manages payroll processing, recruitment, onboarding, records and compliance documentation, and assists with classification and compensation tasks while collaborating to promote HR best practices across faculty, staff, and administrators.
Highlights
Coordinate hiring and onboarding processes, and manage payroll operations using PeopleSoft.
Assist with classification of positions in consultation with Columbia Office of Classification and Compensation.
Provide support for faculty recruitment and train hiring managers on online applicant systems (PeopleAdmin).
Respond to inquiries from applicants and internal/external customers regarding position postings and application status.
Perform general office administration and serve as backup for HR processing as needed.
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and competence with spreadsheet and database software.
Preferred experience: 2+ years in higher education HR focusing on classification, compensation, or recruitment.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 1+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of certification, training, and education.

Job Duty | Assist the HR Manager and HR Director, in consultation with Columbia Office of Classification and Compensation, determine correct classification of position description(s) based on qualification and salary administration guidelines; helps ensure that equity issues are reviewed and addressed as necessary in the salary administration process. Aids the Dir/Asst. Director in assisting hiring managers with position description descriptions as needed when vacancies, reclassification, etc., arise. Essential Function | Yes Percentage of Time | 20Job Duty | Handles payroll processing in PeopleSoft (terminations, student hires, etc.). Monitors pending and saved ePAF forms initiated by department for payroll problems, investigates payroll issues and determines appropriate actions, effectively communicates results to employees.
