Job Summary
Information Technology Specialist II

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Info Tech Specialist to join our team. This on-site position requires a professional who is adept at providing exceptional end-user customer service ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues, and technical support for both Mac and PC environments. The ideal candidate will have excellent troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of network fundamentals.
This is an ON-SITE position.

About UIT: University Information Technology (UIT), the central IT service provider for the University of Utah, reports to the U’s Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the U’s shared IT services including the wired and wireless network; Campus Information Services (CIS) portal; UMail, telephone, and online collaboration; digital learning technologies; information security; software licensing; and a host of other IT systems and services.

Responsibilities
Information Technology Specialist II

· Image, configure, deploy and support desktop, laptop, iPad, software/operating systems, disk storage connectivity, etc.
· Configure and support conference room and other technologies for specialized areas of support.
· Configure and support plotter and other printers.
· Manage and setup shared licensing software.
· Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows and Mac OS systems.
· Track and document problems, issues, settings and solutions for IT systems.
· Review and create system process and procedure documentation.
· Perform inventory and retirement processes.
· Assess IT and technology needs, offering improvements and solutions as necessary.
· Utilize device management systems and approved standards and processes.
· Utilize the department ticketing system to track work tickets and time.
· Troubleshoot client, systems for problem resolution.
· Assist with network documentation, configuration, routing and securing.
· Work as a team member as well as autonomously.
· Travel on and off campus locations using personal vehicle for IT support and equipment transport.
· Follow University and departmental processes, procedures, guidelines, etc.
· On call support and maintenance activities. Expected to be available outside of normal business hours for client needs, events, server, desktop or system upgrades or updates which need to be completed outside of normal business hours.
· Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Environment: Will require lifting, bending, and repetitive desk work such as typing, and long-term sitting.
Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.
Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking bending, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:

Information Technology Specialists, II: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
· 5 years of computer support related experience.
· ITIL Foundations Certification.
· A+ MCSE, or other applicable certifications.
· Microsoft Windows and Mac OS troubleshooting.
· Automated Device Management experience.
