Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer (ID) is responsible for designing and developing online learning solutions. The ID will utilize instructional design and performance improvement processes to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate online courses. The ID works with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to design and develop educational interventions that incorporate best practices of instructional design and ADA compliance. The ID has ownership of all instructional materials to ensure that instructional quality is built into final project deliverables. The ID directs, coaches, and mentors support personnel and vendors in the creation of instructional materials. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • Design and development of JAX GE online education and implementation of evidence-based instructional design and development processes to ensure high quality, effective online education. 
  • Design and develop MicroLessons and MiniCourses and other online JAX GE educational projects as assigned working in a variety of software applications. 
  • Responsible for LMS Administration and day to day management, and continuing operation of the LMS to ensure seamless executive. 
  • Serve as project manager for multiple assigned projects, managing stakeholders and subject matter experts, building timelines and workflows for a sequence of deliverables to meet assigned deadlines. 
  • Apply graphic design, HTML/CSS programming skills to create visually pleasing eLearning adhering to the JAX visual brand. 
  • Create both instructional and learner support multimedia assets for online courses working with audio, video and animation. 
  • Implement quality assurance processes and ensure ADA compliance, creating ID standards, rubrics, voice over transcripts, and checklists in support of all disability types, with attention to color contrast, captioning, keyboard navigability, focus order, alt text, and more for complex scientific content, illustrations, and data visualizations. 
  • Design, develop, and implement measurement and evaluation strategies that are grounded in research-based best practices to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of educational interventions. 
  • Stay abreast of developments in the field of eLearning technology and serve as an internal consultant on best practices, new solutions, and emerging trends. 
  • Serve as subject matter and technical expert responsible for direct oversight for LMS administration (Canvas and Skilljar) 
  • Collaborate with LMS and content providers to research and resolve issues related to the LMS that are reported by the end user and vendor(s). 
  • Execute course creation, testing across multiple platforms including various OSs and device types (mobile/desktop), user/member management, portal, and related LMS administration processes 
  • Manage the LMS user experience by providing end-user support for both internal and external learners. Manage secure user/administrator access for program coordinators, managers, and directors as assigned. 
  • Coordinate the generation of data analytic reports generated in the LMS and reporting customizations such as Google Analytics (Data Dashboard). Create documentation, ensure security, and train others in the use of this tool as assigned. Provide custom tables, builds, and reports using multiple filters and queries as assigned. 
  • Coordinate with vendors to oversee enhancement efforts and system upgrades—including badge integrations, language localizations, tracking system bugs/application issues, and coordinating LMS upgrades and relevant improvements. 
  • Administer LMS integrations such as PayPal and Credly, coordinating communications between vendors and affected internal departments at JAX (Financial Services, IT, Legal). 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education or other equivalent curriculum that focuses on learning. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in design and development of instructional materials in diverse settings, producing creative and effective learning solutions. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and development of web-based learning. 
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing complex learning solutions using various software applications (Articulate 360 /Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/LMS). 
  • Strong consulting capability with strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
