We are seeking an experienced and nimble Instructional Designer Associate to join our growing Innovation and Emerging Technologies team to lead large, dynamic instructional design projects. Every day you’ll make a difference in the lives of others by working at the intersection of cutting-edge pedagogy, emerging technologies, and universal design to craft engaging digital experiences that empower learners worldwide.

ASU has partnered with the United States military to reimagine their learning ecosystem and to encourage and promote lifelong learning during a service member's time in and out of the uniform. In this exciting role, you’ll collaborate closely with faculty, instructors, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to design and develop engaging, learner-centered experiences. You’ll apply proven instructional design methodologies and adult learning theories to co-create content and experiences that resonate with learners across the globe and lifespan, all while optimizing workflows and processes to support scalable, efficient development.
While a deep knowledge of the U.S. military is not necessary to be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is passionate about innovation, design thinking, prototyping, access to education, and who loves working on complex, innovative, high-visibility projects that push the status quo. This position serves as a launchpad into instructional design at EdPlus, where you'll collaborate with experienced designers and faculty to reimagine how we approach online teaching and learning. You will contribute to our vision of academic excellence, innovative course design, and next generation learning technologies that converge to create transformative student experiences.

Essential Duties:
  • Crafts dynamic learning experiences. 
Collaborate with faculty and colleagues to design online courses that are interactive, pedagogically sound, and student-centered. Creates learning materials that spark engagement and fosters student success in digital environments.
  • Cultivates digital learning innovation.
Recommends and applies innovative teaching strategies and digital tools to enhance online learning. Develops interactive websites, multimedia, and digital learning objects that transform the student experience while advancing technical expertise.
  • Champions creative technology solutions.
Leverages LMS (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) expertise to implement and model best practices in course design, navigation, and delivery. Optimizes the use of LMS tools and features to enhance teaching efficiency, improve learner engagement, and ensure a seamless online learning experience.
  • Supports digital learning asset design and optimizes course design workflows. 
Uses authoring tools, multimedia applications, and presentation platforms to build custom digital learning solutions. Partners with instructional designers, media specialists, and technologists to streamline workflows and ensure high-quality course design.
  • Builds technical expertise. 
Provides expert support and troubleshooting for online learning platforms, ensuring smooth and reliable experiences for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Embraces new challenges.
Contributes to special projects and initiatives that drive innovation and advance the mission of transforming digital learning.
  • Performs other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

NOTE: This is not a remote position. Must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, Arizona.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and online pedagogical practices.
  • Experience with course content development tools, presentations, web pages, applications, and tutorials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in learning management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle) and troubleshooting technology issues.
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Some travel is required.
