We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Instructional Designer to join our Learning & Development team. In this role, you’ll design engaging, compliant eLearning programs for food safety and workforce training. You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to build course frameworks, define learning objectives, and develop interactive modules using tools like Lectora. This position reports directly to the Manager of Course Development.

Role Responsibilities:  
  • Design and develop online training courses, including storyboards, scripts, assessments, and interactive elements using Lectora Inspire and other eLearning tools.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to translate complex regulatory content into structured, engaging modules.
  • Manage full project lifecycle: needs analysis, development, testing, deployment, and evaluation.
  • Apply adult learning theories (e.g., ADDIE, Kirkpatrick) to optimize learner outcomes.
  • Conduct usability testing and revise content based on feedback and performance metrics.

Required Skillset and Experience:  
  • Experience and Performance: 3–5+ years in instructional design or eLearning development, with 1–2 years focused on safety or technical training. Proven success in developing courses for regulated industries (e.g., food production, lab safety, HAZMAT, FDA guidelines, FSMA, or OSHA compliance).
  • Design Acumen: Strong ability to structure learning objectives, outline content flow, and build interactive modules tailored to adult learners in compliance-driven environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in Lectora Inspire (desktop version), SCORM packaging, and accessibility standards. Familiarity with Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and multimedia tools (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Premiere).
  • Project Management: Skilled in managing timelines, revisions, and cross-functional collaboration with animators, QA, and voice talent.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working with diverse teams and stakeholders in fast-paced settings.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry-specific experience: Background in food safety (e.g., FSPCA-approved courses) or worker safety (e.g., utilities, manufacturing, oil & gas), including content on OSHA, HAZMAT, or quality control. 
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), ATD Instructional Design Certificate, or OSHA Outreach Trainer are highly valued.
