The Role

The Instructional Designer & Facilitator is a developing individual contributor within the Learning Experience department at MaryRuth's, responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating high-quality learning experiences across the organization. This role partners with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex information and business needs into clear, practical learning solutions.

Balancing instructional design, content development, and facilitation, the Instructional Designer & Facilitator applies adult learning principles to support knowledge retention, skill development, and effective application across onboarding, product education, Customer Experience, and ongoing capability development. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, remote position. The compensation range for this role is $60,000 to $70,000 USD/year.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Design & Course Development
  • Design and develop courses, learning paths, microlearning, and other LMS-based learning experiences across formats, including eLearning, ILT, workshops, assessments, job aids, and reference resources.
  • Partner with SMEs and stakeholders to define objectives, requirements, and outcomes.
  • Research and translate complex information into clear, accurate, engaging content.
  • Apply instructional design and adult learning principles to produce polished, branded assets for internal and external partner usage.
  • Maintain and update content to reflect product, process, and organizational changes.
  • Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Deliver and facilitate training programs, workshops, and interactive sessions in live virtual and blended (asynchronous) formats.
  • Support onboarding and recurring training needs, including seasonal Customer Experience onboarding.
  • Adapt delivery to different audiences and incorporate feedback to continuously improve.
  • Learning Effectiveness & Project Management
  • Identify knowledge gaps and develop appropriate learning solutions.
  • Evaluate learning experiences using feedback, assessments, and engagement data.
  • Manage projects from development through launch, balancing timelines and competing priorities.
  • Uphold high standards of accuracy, clarity, and quality; stay current on emerging tools and AI opportunities.
  • Learning Technology & Collaboration
  • Build, maintain, and evaluate learning content and paths within the LMS and related systems.
  • Support basic LMS administration and learner troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate closely with SMEs, stakeholders, and the Learning Experience team along with independent work.
  • Support additional initiatives as assigned.
  • Miscellaneous
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Travel (<5%) may be required on an as-needed basis with advance notice provided to the employee.

Qualifications

  • Experience in instructional design, training, content development, communications, enablement, or a related field, with a general understanding of adult learning principles and instructional methodologies.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to create and facilitate clear, engaging learning experiences.
  • Strong research, critical thinking, and organizational skills; ability to learn new topics quickly and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with an LMS, Canva, PowerPoint, or similar tools to create polished visual materials.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Technically adaptable and willing to learn new systems and tools.
  • Background in health, wellness, dietary supplements, Customer Experience, or a regulated industry, including familiarity with compliance-driven content, is a plus; willingness to learn is essential.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
