Job Summary
Instructional Designer II will provide instructional design expertise for the development and support of digital learning courses and curriculum and for the application of educational technologies and tools; will also collaborate with the team in providing training and technical support on digital learning.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, education, communications, information technology, curriculum design or related field; three to five years experience in course design, curriculum design or e-learning, preferably in higher education; experience with graphic and multimedia authoring software and Web site design software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in instructional technology, education, communication, information technology, curriculum design or related field; 5 plus years’ experience in course design, curriculum design, e-learning or instructional technology, preferably in higher education; proficiency in Canvas platform; experience designing and supporting courses in various disciplines. Experience in providing training and support on instructional technology, Learning Management Systems (LMSs), content authoring and other digital learning tools, familiarity with digital learning course quality review standards and process, and familiar with emerging technologies.
Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with faculty or subject matter experts (SMEs) on designing and developing digital learning courses, learning materials and resources.
• Consult with faculty and SMEs on optimal design of curriculum and instruction and the effective use of digital learning technologies.
• Manage the course development projects and the processes.
• Provide professional and technical support and training to faculty and students on using LMS and other digital learning tools.
• Consult and support faculty and SMEs on following the design principles and quality standards to develop best practices for effective, engaging, accessible and innovative learning experience.
• Explore and implement emerging technologies such as AI in teaching and learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
