Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Lab Technician / Learning Resources in the Mesa Tutoring and Computing Centers (MT2C), located at San Diego Mesa College. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 5:30PM. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department’s needs.

Under the direction of the Dean of Learning Resources and Academic Support and MT2C’s Instructional Support Supervisor, the Instructional Lab Technician provides assistance to staff and students in an instructional support/tutoring program.

Duties:

Support the operations of the MT2C tutoring program and provide exemplary customer service Proactively anticipate student and staff needs and provide timely assistance in a dynamic student service environment Administer the tutoring appointment calendar and scheduling software Assist with the full cycle of data management: inputting information, maintaining tracking systems, and extracting meaningful insights Keep meticulous records Prepare and issue materials and equipment for student and faculty use, and maintain records of that use Participate in the selection, evaluation, and acquisition of equipment and software Assist in the development of training and instructional materials Provide hands-on training and mentorship to student aides and hourly employees Prepare reports and presentations Participate actively in the work of the Learning Resources and Academic Support unit, the college, and the district Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications  | Bachelor’s Degree in a related field AND/OR a minimum of three years of experience in tutoring, education, or work experience related to supporting a learning assistance center; Experience tutoring students; Experience with computer applications, including word processing, online platforms, and databases used in an educational setting; Active engagement in professional learning and fostering collaboration by sharing insights with others; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independently with little direction; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to meet schedules and timelines; Experience in training student aides and hourly assistants; Demonstrates cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
Foreign Degree:  | Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.
