Organization's Summary Statement:
This position is available within the University of Maryland's Division of Information Technology (DIT).
The Senior ClearPass Engineer's role is to ensure the ongoing stability, integrity, functionality, and evolution of the University of Maryland's Aruba ClearPass system, which controls user access to the campus's wired and wireless networks.
This Senior ClearPass Engineer will manage the implementation of the ClearPass platform, which will include significant service design and policy planning, service transition, service operations, and continual improvement.
The Senior ClearPass Engineer will work closely with Security Operations, Identity and Access Management, Endpoint Management, Platform Engineering, and Networking Engineering teams, and implementation partners to deliver robust and reliable services that meet DIT and operational requirements.
The Senior ClearPass Engineer will have strong analytical and technical skills, and the ability to translate requirements from various stakeholders into effective system policies which effectively control access to network resources.
Documentation is a critical component of this position. Design documents will contain diagrams, purpose statements, stakeholder requirements, test plans, required personnel and hardware resources, cost estimates and schedules.
Strong presentation skills are necessary to present designs, promote solutions to stakeholders, and provide training to operations staff and medium-sized groups. This position involves mentoring associate personnel within the Division of IT, which may require significant effort and time dedicated to training, shadowing, guiding, and reviewing the work activities and products of colleagues.
This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.
Physical Demands:
Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods may be spent in computer rooms for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of server equipment.
Preferences:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields.
• Experience managing Aruba ClearPass
• HPE Aruba Networking Certified Associate or Professional - Network Security certification.
• Additional technical certifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience supporting the operations, maintenance, and administration of information technology infrastructure. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to to lead presentations with small to medium sized groups Able to organize and provide direction to junior staff members A demonstrated commitment to customer service Provides leadership and helps bridge the gap between team manager and team members on technical topics Ability to effectively manage workload and delivery assignments on time Skilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces
Additional Job Details
Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.
