IBBR is a joint research enterprise of the University of Maryland, College Park, the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. IBBR leverages state-of-art integrative methods for bioanalytical, biophysical and structural characterization of biomolecules: cryo-electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, x-ray crystallography, small angle neutron and x-ray scattering and mass spectrometry. IBBR researchers seek to advance therapeutic development, biomanufacturing, and state-of-the-art measurement technologies, to support accelerated delivery of safe and effective medicines to the public. Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our IT team. Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for managing both first and second-level support requests, overseeing the help desk ticket queue, and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Preferences:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
Physical Demands:
Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods of time may be spent in computer room and communications equipment spaces for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of heavy (<50lbs) IT equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE: Three years with the types of hardware and software to be supported, two years of which included user support, user training, and/or programming.
OTHER:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of applicable computer hardware or software. Skill in operating supported computers and peripherals; in configuring computer hardware and software; to analytically design program logic or solve technical problems. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work effectively with clients; and providing guidance and instruction to others.
OTHER:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
