Position Summary:
The Junior Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and delivering engaging learning experiences that support compliance requirements, member service excellence, product knowledge, and operational efficiency across the credit union. This entry-level role contributes to the Learning and Development function by supporting financial education initiatives and employee development through effective instructional design practices.

Essential Functions Include:
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) in retail banking, lending, compliance, and operations to assess learning needs and define instructional goals.
  • Design and develop learning solutions including eLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual ILT (vILT), microlearning, and performance support tools.
  • Ensure training aligns with regulatory requirements (e.g., BSA/AML, Fair Lending, CFPB guidelines) and internal policies.
  • Use instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) to create effective, learner-centered content.
  • Leverage tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, and LMS platforms to build and deploy training.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using metrics and feedback to continuously improve learning programs.
  • Support onboarding, upskilling, and leadership development initiatives across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to:
L&D Business Partner

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, or related field.

Additional Skills:
  • Fundamental understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design principles, and digital learning trends.
  • Experience with LMS administration a plus.
  • Excellent communication including grammar proficiency, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Fluent in the following Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams
  • Familiarity with credit union/banking products, services, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience designing training for frontline staff, contact centers, or back-office operations.
  • Strong attention to detail for compliance and accuracy.
  • Ability to lead meetings with confidence. 
  • Ability to select appropriate training interventions that address specific training needs, performance gaps and audiences.
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.

Work Environment:
Hybrid schedule reporting into an office at least two times per week. This position may require more in-office presence as need arises.
