We’re currently hiring a Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Alexandria, Virginia and will report to the Senior Director of Human Resources.
What you’ll do: The L&D Specialist is responsible for creating content and delivering training needs for team members nationwide. The individual will be hands-on and a visionary who will work with subject matter experts to update existing learning materials and develop new online and instructor-led training programs. The ideal candidate is an experienced training specialist, preferably with a background in the construction industry. This individual has a passion for creating content, delivering on-line and in-person trainings and collaborating with key stakeholders.

Qualified Candidates will possess the following:
- Must have a background in adult learning theory, design, and development of training programs.
- Understanding of new/current training methodologies, theories, and techniques
- Identify knowledge and skill gaps and make recommendations for improvement measures
- Design and develop classroom and eLearning modules that leverage adult learning principles and concepts for learner engagement
- Facilitate classroom training on knowledge, skills, and system information
- Facilitate conversation and discussion among subject matter experts
- Ability to work with ambiguity in a fast moving, dynamic environment
- Ability to identify a solution and deliver a product with measurable results
- Responsible for scheduling and coordinating training, company-wide, for all instructor-led or in person offerings
- Responsible for developing, delivering and managing curriculum for each company position i.e. role-based training.
Preferred Candidates will also possess the following skills:
- Proven ability to build, execute, manage, and improve programs and projects.
- Experience with instructional design tools, including Rise, Storyline 360, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated experience with LMS systems, Cornerstone strongly preferred.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience in presenting to senior leadership.
- EQ and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
- Design experience including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar
- Project Management skills and abilities
- Understanding of adult learning concepts and curriculum development
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in a related field from an accredited University required
- Association of Talent Development certifications a plus
