We are seeking a Learning Technologies Specialist to join our innovative Learning & Development team. In this engaging role, you’ll deliver impactful new hire and technology training, create effective and interactive training materials, and play a key part in supporting ongoing learning initiatives across the firm. This is a remote position that will require frequent on-site work at the Seattle location and occasional travel to other Ballard offices as needed.

Your Role:
As a Learning Technologies Specialist within our Learning and Development team, you will:
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development Team, Talent department, HR, subject matter experts, and firm leaders to apply instructional design best practices across all training initiatives.
- Work with the Learning & Development team, subject matter experts, and management to determine topics and content for all training initiatives.
- Create and publish learning materials, including training outlines, handouts, instructional videos, eLearning resources, and quick reference cards (QRCs) to the Learning Management System, Document Management System, and Intranet.
- Work with the Learning & Development team, subject matter experts, and management to review and update existing learning materials and training guides and to identify training needs.
- Work with the Learning & Development team, subject matter experts, and management to conduct needs assessment for training programs and learning resources.
- Design and deliver new hire training, technology training, and instructional coaching on firm systems and platforms.
- Provide coaching to users as a follow-up to training when applicable.
- Assist with evaluating new applications when assigned to the project team.
- Attend firm-required training and education programs.
- Travel to other Ballard Spahr offices as required.

- Technical Skills: Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in the firm’s computer applications and document management system, including but not limited to MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat, NetDocuments, and other practice/functional area databases, the Learning Management System and Intranet, and eLearning tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, and Articulate, as appropriate.
- Detail-Oriented: Keen attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Judgement and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills. Adopt a strategic mindset and exercise attention to detail to proactively identify and prevent potential issues. Use analytical skills to interpret the issue at hand and develop applicable or appropriate recommendations and solutions. Exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, perform well under pressure, and maintain control in difficult situations.
Required Experience:
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience is required for this position. Collaborate with the Learning & Development Team, Talent department, HR, subject matter experts, and firm leaders to apply instructional design best practices across all training initiatives.
Candidates should possess strong multitasking skills without loss of efficiency or accuracy and demonstrate proficiency with software applications. Experience working in a law firm or legal environment is preferred. The salary range for this position is from $110,000 – $120,000, which reflects the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will depend on several factors such as the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
