About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Dean of the University Library and as part of the Ellucian Managed Services team, the Learning Technology Administrator will support and administer a suite of teaching and learning technologies, including the institution’s learning management system (Canvas), media and collaboration tools (e.g., Kaltura, Zoom, Google Workspace), and classroom technology infrastructure. This individual will serve as Tier 1 support for the LMS and classroom technologies, ensuring faculty, staff, and students receive consistent, reliable support. Classroom technologies include AV equipment, classroom computers, and labs. The Learning Technology Specialist also plays a key role in evaluating and implementing emerging pedagogical technologies such as extended reality (XR) and generative AI.

Where you will make an impact
  • Serve as the primary Tier 1 support for the LMS (Canvas) and classroom technologies, including AV systems, instructional computers, and computer labs.
  • Provide training and assistance for the effective use of educational technologies including Google Workspace, Zoom, Canvas, and other campus-supported tools.
  • Design and deliver 1:1 and group training sessions for faculty and staff focused on educational technology use in online, hybrid, and face-to-face environments.
  • Provide Tier 2 LMS support, including LTI integration and third-party tools (e.g., Turnitin, Respondus) within Canvas.
  • Create user-friendly documentation and knowledge base resources to support self-service and training needs.
  • Provide consultation and tool evaluation services to help faculty improve teaching and learning outcomes.
    Classroom Technology Oversight
  • Monitor and maintain classroom technology and lab environments in partnership with IT
  • Serve as point-of-contact for classroom tech issues and ensure timely resolution of tickets.
  • Provide onboarding and training for faculty on AV and classroom systems.
  • Participate in planning and procurement discussions related to instructional space improvements.
    Administrative & Project Services
  • Act as Canvas LMS administrator and coordinate with institutional IT for backend configuration, updates, and system uptime.
  • Aid in the administration and deployment of emerging tools such as XR headsets, generative AI platforms, and other teaching technologies.
  • Consult on policies related to the selection, implementation, and retirement of instructional technologies.
  • Analyze usage data to support recommendations for adopting or sunsetting technology tools.
    Innovation & Collaboration
  • Stay current with educational technology trends, including AI, XR, and mobile learning, and evaluate their potential impact.
  • Share research findings and pilot opportunities with key academic stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to ensure technology alignment with institutional teaching and learning goals.
  • Serve as a representative in institutional technology governance, contributing expertise in teaching and learning technologies and helping shape tactical and implementation plans aligned with the college’s strategic goals.

What you will bring
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Experience supporting educational and classroom technologies in a higher education setting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills; ability to support both technical systems and non-technical users.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards such as ADA and Section 508.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Canvas LMS and integrated third-party tools.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and faculty development best practices.
  • Familiarity with XR and AI technologies in an educational context.
  • Experience supporting technology policy development and governance.
  • Experience working within an IT ticketing system environment.
