 Position Description 
Advertised Job Summary  | Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director for Scholar Recruitment, the Manager for Scholar Recruitment is responsible for managing the execution of a comprehensive student services strategy for recruiting high-achieving students, including the top- ranked South Carolina Honors College, our prestigious Top Scholars program, and the Capstone Scholars program. The Manager establishes policies and procedures in conjunction with the Senior Assistant Director and Senior Associate Director. The Manager recommends changes for the recruiting strategy of high-achieving students, develops and implements long-range plans and objectives, and works extensively to develop strategies and operational directives.

The Manager is responsible for outreach, recruitment, admissions and enrollment of high-achieving students. They represent the university to prospective high-achieving students and counselors when they visit campus, write or call the office, and when they require special programs or individual counseling. The Manager implements recruiting strategies throughout the state and nation, which includes travel and virtual sessions.

The Manager for Scholar Recruitment will directly hire and supervise up to three Scholar Recruitment Student Coordinators who will assist with data entry, connecting with prospective students, event planning and coordination, fulfillment requests, and more. They will also coordinate all student volunteer needs for the area, including managing up to 20 paid Scholar Host team members and any additional volunteers for Top Scholar Weekend.

The Manager reviews applications for admission, assists with major on- and off-campus recruitment events and is expected to travel and conduct admissions presentations. This position requires evening and weekend work..


Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience  | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Job Duty  | Hire, train and directly supervise up to 3 Scholar Recruitment Student Coordinators who will assist with data entry, connect with prospective students, event planning and coordination, fulfillment requests, and more. When positions are vacated, hire new students as quickly as possible and build a staffing schedule that maximizes hours of operation. Regularly assess and monitor student progress. Meet individually with student employees to discuss expectations. Provide ongoing training, mentorship and support to ensure students can accurately answer questions and be available to answer questions as needed. Manage, hire, and train up to 20 paid student employees to serve as the Scholar Host Team for Top Scholar Weekend events. Coordinate additional student volunteer opportunities to support Top Scholar Weekend.
