Position Summary

The Director of Communications for Admissions creates timely, brand-oriented communications to attract the attention of prospective students and families. This position ensures accurate and time-sensitive deployment of Admissions' direct marketing, event and communication plan. In addition to ensuring the accuracy of the Admissions identity standard, the assistant director reviews, edits and approves admissions email, text, and social media and print communications.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in any relevant field of study with minimum 5+ years of experience with the following relevant work experience:
- Writing and proofing digital content
- Proven experience with Photoshop and InDesign
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Managing organizational social media accounts

Superior computer skills. Knowledge of Slate required for execution of responsibilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, lnDesign and Photoshop are also required.

Job Duties

  • Communication
    • In collaboration with the Slate Captain for Undergraduate Admissions, creates and executes undergraduate admissions communication as outlined in the Communication Matrix set by the Vice President of Enrollment and Dean of Undergraduate Admissions. This includes electronic messaging, print brochures, print letters and text.
    • Works with territory managers to design and deliver segmented marketing campaigns.
    • Compiles and delivers electronic messaging for campus partners associated with Elon Bound.
    • Supports the First-Year Experience Advisory Committee and Student Life with the design and execution of the Well Connected newsletter campaign.
    • Creates yearly calendar (print and electronic) of inquiry and applicant communication for undergraduate staff members. Responsible for creating and editing all communication attached to forms in the Admissions Customer Relationship Management system, Slate.
  • Events
    • Support admissions events by building communications for events in Slate and coordinating paper and electronic event invitation updates in partnership with University Communications.
    • Responsible for materials related to event check-in (i.e. nametags and participant packets).
    • Designs and prints all final event schedules, as well any supplemental materials needed (i.e. maps, one-pagers).
  • Social Media
    • Co-chair of the social media committee. Responsible for posting all content via Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
    • Gathers and creates content as needed; writes captions. Serves as the point-person for other admissions staff who provide social media support.
    • Oversees and manages the student social media committee. Collaborates with the university's Social Media Manager to learn trends, boost posts, and showcase high profile stories.
  • Prospect Student Portal(s)
    • Assists with the design and creation of the applicant, admitted and enrolling student portals housed within Slate.
    • Helps with maintenance to ensure each portal is accessible and up-to-date throughout each phase of the admissions cycle.
    • Responsible for keeping current on newly released Slate features and tools to routinely enhance the user experience.
  • Supervision
    • This role supervises one staff member and eight student workers. This work includes hiring, training and weekly meetings. Participation in university student supervisor series is expected.
