Overview
As the Instructional Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving a design team to execute on the content strategy and approaches for all materials and work produced across a variety of audiences. This will be done in close partnership with key stakeholders, subject matter experts (SME), and ensuring the team is able to: Provide project and account management for a diverse set of instructional modalities (in-person, e-learning, blended learning etc.) across the full life cycle of the product (needs analysis, design, development, delivery, evaluation, and revisions). Build ILT, eLearning, mobile learning, micro learning, performance support, virtual training, and more as appropriate. Design, remix, upgrade and invigorate existing curriculum and courses to increase relevancy and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overseeing content ownership within the L&D team and serving as an innovative change agent for continuous improvement in our curriculum through improved/enhanced methodologies and technologies.
  • Oversee and support Instructional Designers responsible for developing appropriate tools and materials (facilitator guides, participant workbooks, on-line job aids, etc.).
  • Partner effectively with subject matter experts and stakeholders to conduct insightful learning needs analyses, develop learning objectives, and design learning assets using sound adult learning principles.
  • Develop and document required learning standards, policies, and procedures. Oversee and manage a team to continually update learning plans for all bodies of work supported. Update competencies as Design roles evolve in collaboration with L&D Sr leadership and HR.
  • Develop standards for Designers to support new program rollouts and Learning Instructors; this includes conducting “Train the Trainer” sessions on content created for ILT/VILT classes and coursework.
  • Responsible for ensuring designers create detailed design plans, which include key activities, timelines, and resource requirements needed to achieve objectives.
  • Enable the design team to create prototypes, storyboards, and design documentation that effectively communicate design approaches for key stakeholder approvals. 
  • Clearly articulate rationale for learning approaches based on sound learning science, adult learning principles, interoperability standards, and web accessibility standards.
  • Ensure collaboration with creative teams on video production and graphic sources to produce final versions of course materials as needed.
  • Partner effectively with learning operations team in the development, delivery, and project processes; on design team capacity, technologies, and file management requirements.
  • Develop team analytics and capacity planning to execute on business impact measurements through collaboration with project management team.
  • An unwavering commitment to the success of your team, and willingness to provide coaching and development and/or corrective action as needed. Recruits, selects, hires, and evaluates performance of team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Graphic Design, or related discipline - Preferred
  • 5 years of experience in Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Instructional Design experience.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $100,000-$150,000 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
