THE OPPORTUNITY
The RFP Writer will be responsible for providing RFP functions in the Scholastic Education Division. The person will be responsible for essential tasks in creating competitive bids for Scholastic Education products and services. This person shall be cross-trained in all functions and be a strong contributor to the entire bid process from solicitation through bid award lifecycle. The RFP Writer shall be responsible for maintaining the RFP electronic folders to maximize efficiency, creating documents that support the timely submission of bids, generating reports to show bid trends and effectiveness, and completing special projects as assigned to include supporting the RFP Team’s operational duties, as needed. Strong writing and verbal presentation skills, ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines, hyperattention to details and accuracy are high priorities. Experience with Educational Products for PreK-12 a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write content for RFPs and/or Business Development opportuniites as needed and assigned, including narratives, alignment charts, LOI/LOA/RFI/RFQ,etc, summary documents, responses to state HQIR, and other text conforming to the specific needs of the RFP and customer needs.
- Write bid boilerplates, which can be used for cutting and pasting information or as a ready-made part of a bid response
- Collect information and add it to the RFP electronic folders, such as written product information, graphics of product components, logos, workshop descriptions, pricing, state correlations, etc.
- Suggest ways to make processes more efficient
- Organize Bid Process, which starts the bid response
- Create RFP Initial Review Summary Grids that are emailed to stakeholders
- Write stakeholder call summaries to send to team, noting decisions made and follow up needed
- Design bid submissions and create Checklists of tasks and due dates required to complete the bid on time
- Create bid response templates, which are used to write the bid response completely and uniformly
- Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill special requests or the smooth operation of the RFP Department, such as, but not limited to:
o Researching information about agencies, funding, RFPs, or Scholastic programs and services
o Creating PowerPoints or other materials for in-house training or training freelancers
o Working with freelancers during peak bid-writing times
o Writing custom documents as needed
- Act as primary contact with Field Sales Team, Finance, Legal and Logistics to identify product identification, availability, pricing submittal and terms
- Support the scouting of business development opportunities and work closely with the Senior RFP Manager to align company resources

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree required\
- 8 years’ of experience in technical or grant writing.
- Must be very detail-oriented with a high degree of writing accuracy
- For-profit writing experience is a plus; education industry knowledge is a preferred.
- Must be flexible in accepting assignments and meeting deadlines
- Must be both analytical and a creative problem solver. Must be able to work independently, with team and cross-departmental colleagues, to attain organizational goals.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational planning and writing skills
- Ability to learn new educational products and their features and benefits; as well as, write to their strengths.
- Willingness to work in aa fast-paced environment
