About the Role
As Sales Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of Sales Development Representatives across multiple regions. You will coach, support, and develop your team to meet their goals and align with strategic business priorities. You’ll also assess current outreach strategies, tools, and workflows — recommending and implementing improvements to boost efficiency, productivity, and impact.
You will be a key player in shaping the future of Sales Development Representatives (SDR's) at Elsevier, from performance management and training to tool optimization, team structure, and culture.

Responsibilities
  • Leading, mentoring, and coaching a distributed team of SDRs to achieve and exceed KPIs (key performance indicators).
  • Driving a culture of performance, learning, and innovation within the team.
  • Monitoring and optimizing SDR outreach strategies to ensure effective engagement across key personas in higher education and research.
  • Tracking productivity, conversion, and performance trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Product to ensure alignment and pipeline quality.
  • Evaluating current tools and processes, and lead or advise on improvements and new technologies.
  • Championing operational consistency and excellence in CRM use, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Promoting continuous learning on industry trends, buyer personas, and value propositions
  • Supporting hiring, onboarding, and training of new SDR team members.

Requirements
  • Have proven experience managing or leading an Inside Sales or SDR/Business Development Representative (BDR) team.
  • Display exceptional coaching skills and a track record of growing and developing people.
  • Experience with higher education, academic libraries, or research organizations is a valued.
  • Have familiarity with sales tech tools such as Salesforce, Outreach, Gong, ZoomInfo, etc.
  • Are a strategic thinker with an operational discipline and analytical mindset.
  • Display resiliency, goal-oriented action, and comfortability with driving change.
  • Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across global teams.
  • Experience and comfortabiliy working in an international matrix organization.
