Pay Range Information | Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary | Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Marketing and Events Specialist for Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) is a proactive and engaging position which works closely with key stakeholders to develop & maintain marketing content and execute key special events highlighting the educational programs, students, research, and accomplishments of the school and its constituents. The aim of this role is to elevate and broaden the reputation & visibility of the school and to increase engagement.
Supporting the overall marketing strategy and following branding guidelines, the specialist will write, create, maintain, and oversee effective, engaging, results-oriented communication methods and channels relevant to CUSP’s various stakeholders and audiences.
This position will work closely with CUSP Leadership, Strategic Marketing and Communications, Alumni Engagement, University Advancement, and CUSP Office of Student Affairs.
Responsibilities | Digital Content Development, Marketing Campaigns, & Publicity Manage and optimize CUSP website content by maintaining accurate, up to date pages with consistent messaging that reflects current branding and strategic priorities. Design, produce, and distribute the Annual Dean’s Report magazine covering CUSPS’s accomplishments and activity for the calendar year. Develop and maintain digital marketing content schedules and timelines. Maintain weekly and monthly schedules to ensure key events and dates are covered. Write blogs, headlines, copy, summaries, and other content. Work closely with faculty and students and foster participation in the creation of media content Collaborate with the University’s Strategic Marketing and Communication (SMC) office to carry out planned marketing strategies and campaigns and develop digital and print content. Collaborate with Public Relations Office on stories that could be shared broadly with the campus and community. Develop an electronic communications strategy and manage email campaigns to key constituencies. Maintain repository of CUSP images and logos. Identify appropriate images for marketing use, and coordinate photography when necessary. Maintain a comprehensive social media strategy that measurably increases engagement and reach among prospective students, current students, alumni, and other constituencies and promotes CUSP’s strengths and accomplishments, aligned with brand guidelines. Manage all CUSP social media accounts, including but not limited to Meta and LinkedIn. Produce engaging, high-performing social media posts multiple times per week. Develop social media content using video and photography editing software, solicit student engagement, takeovers, etc. Supervise student employee (Marketing Content Student Assistant) who aides in writing content for blog posts and stories, and in providing photography, film, and editing assistance.
Manage Events Lead the planning and implementation of college events such as Whitecoat Ceremony and Dinner, Alumni/Conference Receptions, Homecoming, Patient Safety Conference, Dean’s Professional Advisory meetings and dinners, and other central-school events as needed. Assist other departments as needed on annual events such as Commencement, Student Awards Banquet, Research Day, etc. Facilitate the submission and completion of all required legal agreements, vendor contracts and certificates of liability/insurance. Reserve event spaces, order all equipment, furniture, and additional cleaning services for all events. Coordinate marketing and publicity for all events with others. Working with Strategic Marketing and Communication office, prepare, edit, and distribute print and electronic correspondence, event materials, announcements, invitations, and printed programs. Maintain accurate files, both paper and electronic, for each event. Obtain and store photographic releases. Efficiently utilize annual budget for alumni conference receptions, photographic support, print collateral, and promotional goods (SWAG).
Analytics and AssessmentEstablish digital marketing targets and ensure the college meets targets and measurably grows its digital presence. Analyze engagement, interactions, and response rates across platforms, including (but not limited to) websites, social media, emails, paid advertising, and other media.
Dean’s Office Support Maintain repository of school data including faculty and staff headshots, accomplishments, bios, research data, etc. Keep apprised on general facts, actions, strategic plan, and charges of the school for marketing purposes. Work with department heads and leadership on strategy and implementation of cohesive school communications. Serve on various school and university task forces and committees. Collaborate with stakeholders in Alumni Engagement, Development, Enrollment, and SMC to ensure cohesive messaging and strategy.
Required Qualifications | Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a primarily digital marketing, communication, journalism, or other similar role, including experience personally managing the social media accounts for a business, non-profit, or a similar professional organization (including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram). Minimum of 1 year experience in event planning, and/or combination of related experience and education. Experience in using website content management systems and blogging software, (such as Wordpress) Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience routinely gathering and analyzing social media and web analytics using tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Business Manager, and knowing how to use that data to improve reach and engagement Familiarity with design and photo editing software, preferably Adobe Creative Suite applications Ability to provide guidance and make recommendations to senior administration and collaborate with marketing team on goal and mission of the school. Proven ability to organize, plan, prioritize multiple projects, and complete them in a timely manner meeting all deadlines. Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of the team. Ability to learn and interpret university policies and procedures. Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements. Experience in project management and time management. Technical skills to learn enterprise system, software and departmental tools. Ability to demonstrate professionalism, tact, and diplomacy and always maintain a high level of confidentiality. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including impeccable proof-reading skills and the ability to produce clear, concise copy. Ability to understand brand guidelines and apply them consistently. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate well with diverse individuals at all university levels.
Desired Qualifications | Bachelor’s Degree or (Preferably in Marketing, Communications, or related field), and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Higher Education Experience with PeopleSoft Finance
