| Job Summary | This position supports the preparation, setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continued advancement of the university’s immersive projection classroom and its Pixera-based visualization environment. Working closely with the lead technician assigned to the immersive classroom, this position assists with classroom operations, preventative maintenance, technical support, and instructional activities while developing expertise in immersive visualization technologies and advanced audiovisual systems. The position assists in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, performs preventative maintenance, and helps ensure the reliable operation of the immersive classroom while supporting courses utilizing the immersive projection system. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and the lead technician assigned to the immersive classroom, this position provides technical support, production assistance, and classroom operational support while gaining experience with the design, implementation, and delivery of immersive instructional technologies. Under direct to general supervision provide faculty, staff and students with technical assistance, support, and policy and procedure orientation on media equipment capabilities and operations. |
| Minimum Education and Experience | High school graduate or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience in media technology service, preferably in an education environment. |
| Preferred Education and Experience | •Demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn new software applications, media server technologies, and emerging audiovisual systems. •Experience with Pixera media server software is preferred. •Experience with comparable professional media server platforms (such as Disguise, Watchout, Resolume, Hippotizer, Ventuz, or similar immersive display systems). •Experience supporting advanced projection, immersive visualization, or classroom audiovisual systems. •Experience supporting instructional technology or higher education audiovisual environments is preferred. |
| Other Qualifications | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities | •Configure, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Pixera media server software and associated projection, playback, control, and visualization systems. •Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, networking, and system integration issues involving immersive multi-projection environments. •Perform software updates, equipment testing, preventative maintenance, and system calibration under established procedures. •Work closely with the lead technician to maintain the daily operation and reliability of the immersive projection classroom. •Support faculty utilizing Pixera and immersive visualization technologies by assisting with classroom operation and the implementation of instructional content. •Provide technical assistance and user instruction to faculty, staff, and students on the operation of multimedia equipment, Pixera software, and immersive classroom technologies. •Follow established operational procedures while assisting in maintaining technical documentation and preventative maintenance records. •Install, configure, update, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and media server software supporting classroom and immersive visualization technologies. •Assist in evaluating and implementing new software features, workflows, and emerging technologies that enhance the immersive teaching and learning environment. •Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and other university departments regarding technical support, classroom operations, and project activities. •Set up and provide technical support for university events as assigned. •Develop proficiency with Pixera media server software and immersive classroom technologies through hands-on operation, training, and collaboration with the lead technician and Media Services staff. •Participate in ongoing professional development in Pixera, Crestron, Dante, projection systems, media servers, audiovisual networking, and emerging classroom technologies. |
| Physical Demands and Working Conditions | •Ability to stand, walk, push or pull equipment on carts weighing up to 70 lbs. •Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and replace equipment at ceiling level. •Able to work evenings, weekends, or other hours as required. •Remote work is not available for this position. |

THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION. A remote work schedule is not available for this position. Will work evenings. May work weekends or other hours as required. The performance of these essential functions requires that the incumbent must be able to stand, walk, push, or pull equipment on cart with wheels, weighing up to 70 lbs., inside or between buildings; must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders, stretch to reach equipment, and replace equipment at ceiling level. |
