| Job Summary | This position serves as the lead technician for the university’s immersive projection classroom and is responsible for the preparation, setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continued advancement of its Pixera-based visualization environment and associated audiovisual systems. The position will diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure the reliable operation of the immersive classroom while serving as the technical lead for courses utilizing the immersive projection system. Working closely with faculty and staff, this position will provide technical guidance, production support, and training while collaborating on the design, development, and implementation of instructional content that maximizes the classroom’s immersive technologies. Under direct to general supervision provide faculty, staff and students with technical assistance, support, and policy and procedure orientation on media equipment capabilities and operations. |
| Minimum Education and Experience | Associates degree and a minimum of two years of experience in media technology service, preferably in an education environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. |
| Preferred Education and Experience | • Experience with Pixera media server software is preferred. • Experience with comparable professional media server platforms (such as Disguise, Watchout, Resolume, Hippotizer, Ventuz, or similar immersive display systems). • Experience supporting advanced projection, projection mapping, immersive visualization, or large-format display environments. • Experience developing or supporting instructional technology solutions in higher education. • Demonstrated ability to train technical staff and end users on specialized audiovisual systems. |
| Other Qualifications | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities | • Configure, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Pixera media server software and associated projection, playback, control, and visualization systems. • Diagnose and resolve complex software, hardware, networking, and system integration issues involving immersive multi-projection environments. • Coordinate testing, software updates, system calibration, and preventative maintenance for Pixera media servers, projection systems, and associated audiovisual infrastructure. • Provide technical leadership to a Media Technology Specialist and student employees supporting the development of instructional content and the technical production of courses utilizing the immersive projection system. • Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and preventative maintenance standards for the immersive classroom environment. • Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, implement, and support instructional content utilizing Pixera and immersive visualization technologies. • Provide instruction and advanced consultation to faculty, staff, and student employees on the operation of multimedia equipment, Pixera software, and immersive classroom technologies. • Assist in evaluating and implementing new software features, workflows, and emerging technologies that enhance the immersive teaching and learning environment. • Install, configure, update, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and media server software supporting classroom and immersive visualization technologies. • Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and other university departments regarding technical support, classroom operations, and project activities. • Set up and provide technical support for university events as assigned. • Engage in ongoing professional development in Pixera, Crestron, Dante, projection systems, media servers, audio engineering, lighting control, and other emerging audiovisual technologies. |
| Physical Demands and Working Conditions | •Ability to stand, walk, push or pull equipment on carts weighing up to 70 lbs. •Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and replace equipment at ceiling level. •Able to work evenings, weekends, or other hours as required. •Remote work is not available for this position. |
