Medical Education Curriculum Coordinator Full Description

Overview: 
 The Department of Foundational Biomedical Sciences (FBS) at Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative Medical Education Curriculum Coordinator (MECC). This individual will serve as an essential liaison between course directors, teaching faculty, and medical students, facilitating course content delivery, organization, and implementation within a fast-paced academic environment. The MECC supports the academic efforts of four faculty course coordinators and approximately 30 faculty members. Responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining curriculum materials, assisting with exam construction and administration (including team-based learning formats), managing course gradebooks, and supporting student communications. Additional duties may involve proctoring exams, formatting assessments using IF-AT and ExamSoft software, and uploading course materials to the Canvas learning management system. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Experience with educational software platforms such as Canvas and ExamSoft is highly desirable.

Course and Educational Support:
  • Assist faculty Course Coordinators and other faculty teaching in FBS courses to organize and ensure timely posting of teaching materials, teaching schedules, and course updates.
  • Provide faculty support for course content delivery.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students regarding course logistics and digital content navigation.
 
Assessment and Exam Coordination:
  • Compile faculty-submitted questions in ExamSoft and work with the faculty Course Coordinator to review, finalize, and post the exam.
  • Coordinate the organization and execution of team-based learning activities, including exams.
  • Arrange and communicate exam schedules and organize exam proctors. 
 
Grade and Performance Management:
  • Collect, calculate, and post student grades in Canvas in collaboration with faculty Course Coordinators and the Registrar.
  • Prepare and communicate grade tracking reports to faculty Course Coordinators and Academic Affairs
 
Administrative and Communication Duties:
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support as needed to faculty teaching in FBS courses, including e.g., scheduling, communications, and meeting coordination.
  • Participate in regular educational team meetings to support curriculum delivery and continuous quality improvement.
 
Qualifications:
·      Bachelor’s degree in education, health sciences, communication, administration, or similar, or equivalent certification or job-related experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and duties required of the position. Work experience in a higher education or medical education setting preferred.
·      Ability to type 50 WPM and to operate standard office equipment (desktop computer, printers, photocopiers, fax, scanner, etc.).Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), learning management systems (e.g., Canvas)

WORK ENVIRONMENT·  This role involves in-person responsibilities with some remote flexibility as determined by course needs.·  May require occasional work outside business hours, during assessment administration or campus events. Maximum Salary: USD $62,500.00/Yr. Minimum Salary: USD $50,000.00/Yr.
