Description of Work  | Nebraska Extension brings University of Nebraska expertise and research in 8 key areas of impact directly to Nebraskans from all walks of life in each of the state’s 93 counties. Nebraskans turn to Nebraska Extension to strengthen their families, inspire their communities, empower young people, conserve and protect natural resources and advance their farms, ranches and businesses.

As an Office Associate, you will:Support Nebraska Extension by providing a wide array of administrative duties in areas such as 4-H, Horticulture, Early Childhood, and Nutrition Education. Provide receptionist duties as assigned. Coordinate communication between staff and the public. Create and maintain letters, spreadsheets, reports, and work documents. Prepare and proofread correspondence. Help educators and assistants by providing clientele with related research-based information/publications. Assist with Extension related events such as county and state fairs, classes, programs, meetings, conferences, workshops, and information/awards ceremonies. Assist with office financial transactions.
This part-time position is .50 FTE or 20 hours per week.

Minimum Required Qualifications  | High school diploma or GED plus four years of clerical or administrative support experience; additional relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Working knowledge of general office procedures and equipment. PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software program skills.
Preferred Qualifications  | The following qualifications are preferred but not required: Associate’s degree in business or a related field preferred. Experience with PC-based presentation and database software programs. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Detail-oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and work independently within established procedures.
