Build Something That Matters

At AWC, Inc. we believe our competitive advantage is our people. As a 100% employee-owned company, we invest in developing talent, building leadership capability, and creating clear career paths that help our employee-owners grow and succeed.

We're looking for an Organizational Development & Learning Manager who is more than a trainer. We need a builder.

This role is for someone who has successfully designed, implemented, and scaled learning programs in a technical environment. Someone who has built leadership development programs, technical training pathways, onboarding frameworks, and learning systems that measurably improved performance, retention, and employee growth.

If you've spent your career inheriting training programs, this may not be the role for you.

If you've built them from the ground up and can demonstrate results, we'd love to talk.

What You'll Do

As our Organizational Development & Learning Manager, you'll lead the strategy and execution of learning across AWC's industrial automation, engineering, manufacturing, service, and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities include:

Build a Learning Strategy

  • Develop and execute a company-wide learning and development roadmap aligned with business objectives and in support of our customers' journey.
  • Create scalable programs that support employee growth from onboarding through leadership succession.
  • Establish learning metrics and KPIs that demonstrate business impact.

Develop Technical Talent

  • Build structured technical learning paths for sales, engineering, operations, manufacturing, service, and support roles.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to capture and institutionalize technical knowledge.
  • Create certification programs, skills matrices, and proficiency frameworks.

Strengthen Leadership Capability

  • Design and facilitate leadership development programs for frontline leaders, managers, and future leaders.
  • Equip managers with coaching, performance management, and employee development tools

Improve Onboarding & Time-to-Proficiency

  • Redesign onboarding programs that accelerate employee effectiveness and engagement.
  • Establish role-based onboarding pathways and learning milestones.
  • Reduce time-to-productivity through structured learning experiences.

Own Learning Systems & Content

  • Lead administration and optimization of learning technologies, including LMS platforms.
  • Curate, develop, and maintain learning content using internal and external resources.
  • Leverage AI and digital learning tools to improve accessibility and engagement.

Measure Results

  • Define success metrics and regularly report outcomes to leadership.
  • Track program effectiveness, learner engagement, skill attainment, promotion rates, retention, and business impact.
  • Continuously improve programs using feedback and data.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12-24 months, you will have:

  • Established a company-wide learning strategy tied to business goals.
  • Created competency models and development pathways for key roles.
  • Improved manager effectiveness through leadership development.
  • Reduced time-to-proficiency for critical positions.
  • Increased internal promotion readiness and succession depth.
  • Built measurable learning programs with demonstrated business outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Education, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive Learning & Development experience.
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing learning, career development, or talent management programs from concept through adoption, including stakeholder alignment, leadership support, change management, and measurable business results, in technical, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, automation, or similarly complex environments.
  • Experience creating technical training programs, certification pathways, or workforce development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve measurable outcomes such as employee retention, internal promotion rates, key role bench strength, onboarding effectiveness, technical proficiency, or employee engagement.
  • Experience leading leadership development and manager training programs.
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, automotive, engineering services, automation, energy, or technical field services.
  • LMS administration and learning technology experience.
  • Experience supporting rapid growth organizations.

The Ideal Candidate
You are:
  • A builder who enjoys creating programs from a blank sheet of paper.
  • Business-minded and focused on measurable outcomes.
  • Comfortable working with engineers, technical experts, sales professionals, and frontline leaders.
  • Equally capable of developing strategy and rolling up your sleeves to execute.
  • Skilled at influencing leaders and gaining buy-in without direct authority.
  • Passionate about helping people reach their full potential.

Most importantly, you've done this before. You can point to programs you built, explain the industry challenges you solved, and demonstrate the results you delivered.

The Rewards:
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • 401(K) Match
  • Competitive Pay
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Package
  • Employer Paid Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay
