Job Description Summary
The Business and Advertising Manager is responsible for managing the financial and operational efficiency of the Panther. This role involves overseeing budgets, managing advertising sales, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring smooth business operations.
Responsibilities | Job Responsibilities: Oversee Budget and Financial Planning:
Develop and manage the newspaper’s budget, ensuring financial stability and growth. Monitor expenses and revenues, providing regular financial reports to the monthly advisor meetings. Develop advertising metrics.
Manage Financial Transactions: Handle all financial transactions, including invoicing, payments, and reimbursements.Ad Revenue, business office, business manager deposits cashier check, get a receipt.File timesheets and expense reports. Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial documents. Maintain financial records and prepare necessary documentation for audits.
Advertising Strategy: Create and execute advertising strategies to increase revenue and attract new advertisers. Identify and pursue new advertising opportunities with local businesses, city events, and the campus community/organizations. Develop advertising packages and pricing structures that appeal to potential clients.
Client Relationships: Serve as the main point of contact for advertisers, addressing inquiries. Negotiate advertising contracts and pricing.
Coordinate Ad Placement: Work with the editorial and design teams to ensure ads are placed correctly and meet deadlines. Manage the layout and scheduling of advertisements in both print and digital formats.
Required Qualifications | Background in business and advertising. Ability to maintain professionalism.
Desired Qualifications | Prior experience with budgeting/ad management.
Special Instructions to Applicants | Be able to attend weekly staff meetings throughout each semester.
